FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Oklahoma volleyball team battled out a five-set win over Chicago State to earn a 3-2 victory in its first match of the day at the Ram Volleyball Classic.
OU held on to defeat the Cougars 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 15-10. Setter
Kylee McLaughlin recorded a double-double, dishing out 51 assists to go with 19 digs, while outside hitter
Ashlynn Dunbar led the match in kills with 21 on a .395 clip.
Keyton Kinley tallied a match-high 27 digs in the contest.
OU outkilled the Chicago State 65-54 and hit .256 as a team. The Sooners tallied 80 digs to the Cougars' 74 and recorded 12 blocks in comparison to Chicago State's five.
Despite seven kills from Dunbar, Chicago State took the opening set 25-23, outhitting the Sooners .325 to .300. OU tied the frame three times, but the Cougars pulled away.
OU fired back to take the second set 25-17. The Sooners never trailed as Dunbar fired off six more kills.
The Sooners kept the momentum going into the third set for a 25-16 win, but Chicago State took set four 25-23 to send the match to a deciding frame.
OU jumped out to an 11-8 lead in the final set before the Cougars came within two points at 12-10. Freshman middle blocker
Abby Butler put away an overpass before classmate Sanaá Dotson fired off a pair of kills to close out Chicago State.
