NORMAN – The Sooners are set for a 7 p.m. contest with TCU on Wednesday in Fort Worth, Texas. The match will air on Fox Sports Southwest with Chuck Lamendola and Alexia Heist on the call.
LAST TIME OUT
The Sooners picked up a pair of wins to move into sole possession of third place in the current Big 12 standings. OU traveled to K-State, sweeping the Wildcats 25-20, 25-14, 25-17.
OU swung .298 in the match with 42 kills. Ashlynn Dunbar recorded a match-high 16 kills, while Paige Anderson swing .500 with eight kills
In the final home match of the year, the Sooners swept West Virginia, 25-21, 25-17, 25-22. The Sooners notched a season-high .373 hitting percentage behind 47 kills, including 13 from Dunbar and 11 from Sarah Sanders.
DEFENSIVE SPECIALISTS
Into the sixth week of Big 12 action, OU ranks in the top five among Big 12 teams in five defensive categories: digs (1689), digs per set (16.24), total blocks (417), blocks per set (2.45) and opponent hitting percentage (.173).
The Sooners are first in total digs, amassing 1689. OU also leads the league in digs per set with a 16.24 average. OU leads the league in total blocks with 254, while the Sooners are fourth in blocks per set with 2.45.
Oklahoma has held its opponents to a .173 hitting percentage to rank second among Big 12 schools. OU is 14-2 when holding opponents to .100-.199 hitting and 2-0 when keeping them to .000-.099.
Individually, Keyton Kinley leads all Big 12 players in digs (481) and digs per set (5.01). Kinley has three 30+ digs performances this season, with her 32 against Oregon State the second-most by a Big 12 player this year. Brianna Kadiku is first in total blocks (127) and second in blocks per set (1.37).
BIG 12 SWEEPS
The Sooners have earned a season sweep of four opponents in 2019: Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech and West Virginia. OU won those eight matches by a 24-7 margin, including three 3-0 victories.
This is the first time since 2013 that OU has swept at least four conference opponents. If OU defeats TCU on Wednesday, the Sooners will have swept five conference foes for the first time since 2012.
OU has swept the series with Texas Tech in each of the last four years and West Virginia in seven of the eight years they've been in the conference.
GO-TO GIRL
Outside hitter Ashlynn Dunbar has proven herself as OU's go-to hitter this season with 1,023 total attempts. The graduate transfer leads the team in kills with 334, 79 ahead of the next closest player, Sarah Sanders (255).
Dunbar has registered double-digit kills in 19 of OU's 26 matches. She has tallied 15 or more kills in 10 of those contests, most recently against K-State where she put away 16.
Dunbar is No. 4 in the Big 12 in total kills (305) and kills per set (3.63). The Seabrook, Texas, native has been responsible for 408.5 total points this season, placing her third among league players. Her 4.13 points per set average ranks fifth in the Big 12.
CAN'T TOUCH THIS
With 127 aces this season, OU ranks third in the Big 12 from behind the service line. The Sooners average 1.22 aces per set.
Oklahoma had a season-high 10 service aces against Iowa State, with seven of those coming in one set.
Brianna Kadiku has fired off 25 aces with a season-high three against Kansas. Kylee McLaughlin has 20 on the year and also registered a season-best three in the first Kansas match. Paige Johnson (21) and Ashlynn Dunbar (18) join them in double figures.
TCU
The Horned Frogs enter Wednesday's match with a 9-15 record and 4-10 mark in Big 12 play. In its last competition, TCU dropped a close five-set battle to Texas Tech.
The Sooners will find out their postseason fate on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. CT.
