Home Slate Concludes Friday vs. WVU

NORMAN – OU is home to host West Virginia on Friday at 6 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast on SS.tv with Chad McKee on play-by-play, Kelly Files as the color commentator and Meg McDonald on the sidelines.

The match will also air on KREF radio in Norman with Chris Plank on the call.

OU will honor its four seniors: Erin Dibble, Ashlynn Dunbar, Brianna Kadiku and Haley Sanchez in a pre-match ceremony.

FRIDAY STORYLINES

LAST TIME OUT
The Oklahoma volleyball team picked up its third sweep in Big 12 play as they downed Kansas State Wednesday night.

The Sooners dominated offensively, swinging .298 with 42 kills in the contest. Ashlynn Dunbar led the team with 16, while Sarah Sanders chipped in nine and Paige Anderson added 8.

Setter Kylee McLaughlin dished out 32 assists, while adding four kills and six digs.

The Sooners' defense held the Wildcats to .119, including a -.033 percentage in the second set. The Wildcats narrowly out-blocked the Sooners, 10.0-8.0. OU recorded 44 digs to K-State's 34, including a match-high 14 from Keyton Kinley.

DEFENSIVE SPECIALISTS
Into the sixth week of Big 12 action, OU ranks in the top five among Big 12 teams in five defensive categories: digs (1643), digs per set (16.27), total blocks (245), blocks per set (2.43) and opponent hitting percentage (.171).

The Sooners are first in total digs, amassing 1643. OU also leads the league in digs per set with a 16.27 average. OU leads the league in total blocks with 245, while the Sooners are fourth in blocks per set with 2.43.

Oklahoma has held its opponents to a .171 hitting percentage to rank second among Big 12 schools. OU is 13-1 when holding opponents to .100-.199 hitting and 2-0 when keeping them to .000-.099.

Individually, Keyton Kinley leads all Big 12 players in digs (452) and digs per set (5.02). Kinley has three 30+ digs performances this season, with her 32 against Oregon State the second-most by a Big 12 player this year.

Brianna Kadiku is first in total blocks (120) and first in blocks per set (1.33).

 

DOUBLE-DOUBLES EVERYWHERE
Multiple Sooners have registered multiple double-doubles this season as setter Kylee McLaughlin has 14 and Ashlynn Dunbar has recorded 12.

Dunbar and McLaughlin each recorded a pair of double-doubles on the weekend. Against Texas Tech, Dunbar recorded 22 kills and 15 digs. McLaughlin notched 46 assists and 11 digs. At Iowa State, Dunbar had 13 kills and 11 assists while McLaughlin has 30 assists and 14 digs.

OU is 15-4 in contests where one player records a double-double, with the losses coming at Iowa State, against Texas, at Texas A&M, and against Baylor.

The Sooners are 6-3 when two or more players have had double-doubles with wins over Yale, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Kansas and Texas Tech (twice).

GO-TO GIRL
Outside hitter Ashlynn Dunbar has proven herself as OU's go-to hitter this season with 987 total attempts. The graduate transfer leads the team in kills with 321, 77 ahead of the next closest player, Sarah Sanders (241).

Dunbar has registered double-digit kills in 18 of OU's 25 matches. She has tallied 15 or more kills in 10 of those contests, most recently against K-State where she put away 16.

Dunbar is No. 3 in the Big 12 in total kills (321) and No. 4 in kills per set (3.61). The Seabrook, Texas, native has been responsible for 363.0 total points this season, placing her fifth among league players. Her 4.08 points per set average ranks fifth in the Big 12.

A seasoned all-around player, Dunbar has also racked up 215 digs for the fourth-most by a Sooner this season. Dunbar is OU's only non-defensive specialist to have eclipsed 100 digs in 2019.

CAN'T TOUCH THIS
With 123 aces this season, OU ranks fourth in the Big 12 from behind the service line. The Sooners average 1.21 aces per set. Oklahoma had a season-high 10 service aces against Iowa State, with seven of those coming in one set.

Brianna Kadiku has fired off 23 aces with a season-high three against Kansas. Kylee McLaughlin has 19 on the year and also registered a season-best three in the first Kansas match. Paige Johnson has 21 and Ashlynn Dunbar has notched 17.

A VERSATILE TRIO
Sooners' trio of setter Kylee McLaughlin, libero Keyton Kinley and outside hitter Ashlynn Dunbar have done it all for the Sooners, taking on roles outside their positions.

An offensive threat, McLaughlin ranks second among setters with kills in the Big 12 conference with 73 total. She also has 254 digs on the year.

With 108 assists to her name, Kinley has more than any other libero in the league.

Dunbar is tied for third in digs among the Big 12's outside hitters with 215. She trails only Texas Tech's Emily Hill (274) and Iowa State's Michal Schuler (228) and Eleanor Holthaus (211).

QUICK HITS

SCOUTING REPORT

WEST VIRGINIA
The Mountaineers are 11-15 on the season with a 2-11 record in league action. In their last competition, West Virginia dropped a five-set match to Texas Tech. Both of WVU's conference wins have come against Kansas State.
