MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Oklahoma volleyball team picked up its third sweep in Big 12 play as they downed Kansas State Wednesday night inside Ahearn Field House in Manhattan, Kan.
OU (17-8, 9-5 Big 12) ousted the Wildcats (8-18, 3-11 Big 12) 25-20, 25-14, 25-17 to earn the season sweep as the Sooners previously defeated Kansas State in a five-set match in Norman on Oct. 16.
The Sooners dominated offensively, swinging .298 with 42 kills in the contest. Ashlynn Dunbar led the team with 16, while Sarah Sanders chipped in nine and Paige Anderson added 8.
Setter Kylee McLaughlin dished out 32 assists, while adding four kills and six digs.
The Sooners' defense held the Wildcats to .119, including a -.033 percentage in the second set. The Wildcats narrowly out-blocked the Sooners, 10.0-8.0. OU recorded 44 digs to K-State's 34, including a match-high 14 from Keyton Kinley.
OU took the opening frame, 25-20. The Sooners jumped out to an 18-12 lead, before K-State went on a 4-0 run to close the gap. At 24-20, Kadiku would come up with the kill to clinch the first set. The Sooners dominated the second set, 25-14, holding K-State to a -.033 hitting percentage.
The final frame saw ties up to 10-10, but OU would run away with the final set to win 25-17. OU took it's largest lead at 20-14 and held off the Wildcats as Dunbar notched a kill to seal the match.
The Sooners will wrap up their home slate on Friday at 6 p.m. against West Virginia. The senior class will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.
