NORMAN — University of Oklahoma junior wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was named one of 12 semifinalists Monday morning for the 2019 Biletnikoff Award, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced. The Biletnikoff Award is given annually to the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver at any position.
The most dynamic receiver on one of the top offenses in the country, Lamb is tied for second nationally with 13 receiving touchdowns and ranks ninth with his 109.2 receiving yards per game despite ranking 75th with just 4.9 catches per contest. A Maxwell Award semifinalist and consensus first-team midseason All-American, he also ranks fourth nationally with 22.3 yards per reception and is 12th with 983 receiving yards.
The Richmond, Texas, product has produced at least one TD reception in all but one game he has played this season and is the only Power Five player who has at least five games of 135-plus receiving yards. He also leads the nation's non-seniors with his 31 career receiving TDs and 2,948 receiving yards.
Lamb, who has played in nine of the Sooners' 10 games, is tied for second at OU in career receiving touchdowns (31) and ranks fourth in receiving yards (2,948) and 10th in receptions (155). He has 12 career games with at least 100 receiving yards, tying Sterling Shepard for third most in program history behind only Ryan Broyles (23 games) and Mark Clayton (15 games). Additionally, 22 of Lamb's 31 career touchdowns have gone for longer than 40 yards, a figure that ranks second in program history. Only Broyles (23 such receptions) has more. He also has five career games with at least 160 receiving yards, tying a program record. Broyles, Clayton and Shepard all accumulated those numbers over four years.
Wide receiver Dede Westbrook won OU's only Biletnikoff Award in 2016. He finished that season with a school-record 17 receiving touchdowns and led all Power Five players with 1,524 receiving yards and 1.31 receiving TDs per game.
Named after former Florida State and Oakland Raider great Fred Biletnikoff, the 2019 award will be announced and presented live on Dec. 12 on ESPN during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
