AMES, Iowa – The Oklahoma volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Iowa State Friday night at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones took the match 25-23, 24-26, 25-15, 27-25.
The Sooners move to 16-8 on the season and 8-5 in Big 12 play, while the Cyclones improved to 17-8, 8-5.
The Cyclones outhit the Sooners .159-.059 in the contest. Ashlynn Dunbar and Kylee McLaughlin each tallied a double-double as Dunbar notched 13 kills to go with 11 digs and McLaughlin recorded 30 assists and 14 digs.
Defensively, Keyton Kinley notched 18 digs, while Aysia Harty added 13. The Sooners recorded eight blocks to Iowa State's 12, with Paige Anderson leading the charge at the net with five to her name. Dunbar, Sarah Sanders and Brianna Kadiku each chipped in a pair of blocks.
Iowa State took the first set, 25-23. The Sooners capitalized on early errors from the Cyclones to take a 20-12 lead. However, the Cyclones would finish on a 13-3 run to take the set. A back-and-forth second set would result in Iowa State looking to finish things off at 24-22, but a pair of errors would allow the Sooners back in. Anderson recorded back-to-back kills to close out the set, 26-24.
The Cyclones would take the third set, 25-15. The Sooners held a late lead in set four and looked to send the match to a fifth-set at 24-23. With the match knotted at 25-all, Iowa State would use a pair of kills to take the match with a 27-25 fourth-set win.
The Sooners will travel to Manhattan, Kan., to take on Kansas State Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. CT.
