COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Oklahoma soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 8 Texas A&M Friday night at Ellis Field in College Station, Texas. The two teams met for the 19th time in program history and first time since 2011.

The Sooners took a 1-0 lead into halftime, snapping the Aggie's scoreless streak. A&M had yet to allow a goal in 2018, outscoring opponents 12-0 through its first four games and a total of 402 minutes. The Aggies were also held scoreless in a half for the first time this season.

"We have shown both sides of who and what we are capable of being," head coach Matt Potter said. "The encouraging aspect of the game was highlighted by the goal, which was something we had scouted. To see it come together with Hailey's finish was credit to the execution."

In the 42nd minute, the Sooners converted a corner kick to take the lead. As the Aggies attempted to clear the ball, freshman Hailey Davidson collected it at the top of the 18-yard box firing a point-blank shot on goal. Davidson's attempt would bounce off the underneath of the cross bar before falling into the back of the net.

"(The first half was) certainly the best half of soccer we have played thus far on both sides of the ball," Potter said. "Unfortunately, when you play against the quality of a distinguished program as A&M, the discipline and need for execution is for 90 minutes and letting them back into the game early is something we will reflect on and look to learn from moving forward."

A&M found the equalizer in the 47th minute as Grace Piper scored from six yards out. In the 57th minute, Piper scored again as she converted a corner kick for the Aggies.

The Aggies would add a third goal in the 64th minute on a header from Ally Watt.

Redshirt junior Kaylee Dao came close to pulling the Sooners within one goal late in the second half, sending a shot just inches over the crossbar from 18 yards out.

Sophomore goalkeeper McKinley Crone finished the night with nine saves, just one off her career high of 10. Davidson and freshman Megan Reilly led the Sooners with two shots apiece on the night.

OU returns to John Crain Field for a pair of matches next weekend. The Sooners will take on San Francisco on Friday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. before facing California on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m.
