TUESDAY'S GAME BASICS

No. 12/11 Oklahoma (14-4, 4-3 Big 12) hosts No. 5/5 Kansas (16-3, 6-1 Big 12) in yet another big conference matchup inside Lloyd Noble Center. The “Super Tuesday” showdown is OU's seventh game against a ranked opponent in the past seven weeks, with the Sooners boasting a 5-1 record against ranked foes. Oklahoma's five wins over top-25 teams are tied with Texas Tech for the most in the nation. The Sooners are 3-1 against opponents ranked in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 at the time of completion, which also leads the country. The Sooners are 12-1 during the Lon Kruger era in home games in which both teams are ranked – the only loss came to No. 6 Kansas in 2016.

ON THE AIR

Tuesday's matchup will tip at 6 p.m. CT and air on the Sooner Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM “The Franchise” in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN with Jon Sciambi, Tom Crean and Holly Rowe calling the action.

TICKETS

Reserved-seat tickets are sold out. A limited amount of returned seats will go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. exclusively on SoonerSports.com/tickets. Restricted admission tickets will be sold at the LNC box office beginning at 4:30 p.m. The $20 ticket will allow fans to sit in any open seat until somone ticketed for that seat arrives. Fans may also purchase seats from other fans on Stubhub.

OU student tickets (for non-student season ticket holders) will also be available for $5 at the door, while supplies last (doors open to public 90 minutes before tipoff). OU students with season tickets will need to claim their tickets in advance (deadline has past), similar to home football games.

IN THE BONUS

Fans will be treated to a special routine from Tyler's Amazing Balancing Act at halftime.

The Sooner Jr. Kids Zone on the south side of the concourse will feature a poster making station, face painter, balloon artist and free school folders.

OU students in attendance will receive foam noodles and can enter to win the student raffle item - a Nintendo Switch.

#ARRIVESOONER

Fans are encouraged to #ArriveSooner to avoid delays into the gates with new enhanced screenings. Lloyd Noble Center is opening additional screening points in the lower east and west entrances to help expedite the screening process. The north lobby of the east entry and east lobby of the north entry will be open for ticket will call. Fans are encouraged to not bring bags to help expedite screening.

THREE POINTERS

• Freshman guard Trae Young leads the country in both scoring (30.5) and assists (9.7). His scoring and distributing leads the nation's second-highest-scoring offense, as Oklahoma is producing 91.6 points per game. Young is coming off a career-high 48 points against Oklahoma State on Saturday - tied for the highest-scoring game by a Big 12 player in the conference's history.

• The Sooners enter Tuesday's matchup riding a 12-game home winning streak. The Sooners have not lost at home since Feb. 8, 2017. The streak is the longest for the Sooners since winning 19 home contests in a row from Jan. 17, 2015 to Feb. 8, 2016. Oklahoma is 9-0 at the LNC this season and is averaging 98.8 points per home game, winning its contests by an average of 19.8 points.

• Oklahoma coaches and staff will be dressed in Nike Metcon 3 sneakers on the sidelines Tuesday, supporting Suits And Sneakers Week - a Coaches vs. Cancer initiative that benefits the American Cancer Society. The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) is celebrating its 25th anniversary of the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative. OU head coach Lon Kruger is an active participant in Coaches vs. Cancer activities, including founding the Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic, which is now in its 11th year.

SERIES HISTORY VS. KANSAS

• Oklahoma and Kansas have met 212 previous times - the second most contests against any opponent in Oklahoma history. The Sooners have only faced Oklahoma State (235 games) more times than the Jayhawks. Kansas leads the overall series, 146-66. The Jayhawks are the only Big 12 team to own a winning all-time record against the Sooners. The Sooners are 2-10 against Kansas during the Lon Kruger era.

• KU is 50-42 when facing Oklahoma in Norman. Oklahoma has won two of the last five home meetings against KU, earning victories over KU in 2013 and 2015. KU was ranked in the top 10 in both of OU's home wins over the Jayhawks in the Kruger era.


THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

• Oklahoma has gone 70-14 (.833) at Lloyd Noble Center over the past six season. Overall, the Sooners are 82-19 (.812) at the LNC in the Kruger era.

• The Sooners have won 450 of their last 523 encounters at Lloyd Noble Center, good for a remarkable .860 winning percentage. Included in the stretch was a school-record 51-game winning streak (ended in 1990-91). The Sooners also recorded a Big 12 Conference-record 37-game home court winning streak (ended in 2003).

• OU is 15-10 at home against AP Top 25 opponents in the Kruger era and has won 14 of the last 20 such contests.

• Overall, the Sooners own a 545-100 (.845) record in the LNC since the building opened in 1975.


GOING LOCAL

• Oklahoma has seen strong production from a pair of freshmen already known around the Norman area. Guard Trae Young (Norman) and forward Brady Manek (Harrah) are both local products with numerous high school accolades now in their first season as Sooners. The pair is combining to average 40.6 points per game – the most by any freshman duo in the country.

• In 18 games, Young has put together 10 double-doubles, 17 20-plus-point games, seven 30-plus-point games and three 40-plus-point games. Young is averaging 30.5 points, 9.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals while shooting .443 from the field and .396 from 3-point range. He leads the nation in scoring and averages over 12 points more than any other Big 12 player (Kansas' Devonte' Graham is second with 18.1). Young's 9.7 assists also lead the country. No player in recorded NCAA history has finished a season leading the country in both scoring and assists.

• Just 18 games into his collegiate career, Young already owns the program record for total assists (174) and made 3-pointers (78) in a freshman season. Young also ranks in the top 10 among all-time OU freshmen in numerous other categories for season totals. He is sitting in second in made foul shots (143), third in points (549), seventh in steals (34) and seventh in made shots (164).

• Manek has also found success in his rookie campaign, earning averages of 11.1 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting .503 from the field and .419 from 3-point range.


PLAY FAST, SCORE BUCKETS

• Oklahoma is off to a 14-4 start behind the second-highest-scoring offense in the nation. The Sooners average 91.6 points per game and have scored at least 90 points in 11 of their 18 games - including six games in triple digits. Oklahoma, who ranked 331 (of 351 teams) in assists per game last season (10.6), is 23rd in the country with 17.8 assists per contest this year. The Sooners also rank 10th in made 3-point field goals per game with 11.1 treys.

• The Sooners aren't just scoring in bunches - they're playing fast. Oklahoma is fifth in the nation and first among major conferences in KenPom.com's adjusted tempo rankings (possesions per 40 minutes adjusted to the opponenet) with 76.4. Oklahoma's average possession is 13.8 seconds long, the fastest among major conferences and third-fastest overall.

• Oklahoma is 7-0 when shooting above 50 percent and 7-0 when it hands out at least 20 assists.

• Oklahoma has scored 45 or more points in 18 of its 36 halves this season and has scored at least 40 points before halftime in all but three contests.

• The Sooners have scored at least 100 points in six games – their most in a season since the 1992-93 season, when Oklahoma reached the century mark in nine games. Oklahoma's six triple-digit games are the second-most in a season by an Big 12 team since the conference was formed in 1996. The 2001-02 Kansas squad (12 games) is the only team with more.

• OU scored over 80 points in its first 13 games, its longest streak of surpassing 80 points since doing so in 16 straight games in 1987-88. The 1988-89 “Billy Ball” squad scored 80 points in 20 straight games.


UP NEXT: ALABAMA

• The Sooners take a break from conference play to participate in this year's edition of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. In this season's Challenge, the Sooners head to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1:15 p.m. CT on ESPN.

• Oklahoma and Alabama have met seven previous times with OU holding a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series (1-1 in Tuscaloosa). The Sooners and Tide have met once previously during the Lon Kruger era with OU capturing an 82-73 win to open the 2013 series in Dallas, Texas.

• OU is 8-8 against current SEC teams in the Lon Kruger era, including 6-4 against schools which were SEC members at the time of competition. Oklahoma is 3-1 in the Big 12/SEC Challenge with previous wins over LSU, Missouri and Texas A&M and a loss to Florida.
