NORMAN - The University of Oklahoma men's basketball team will face USC on Dec. 8, 2017, in Los Angeles, Calif., the team announced Monday. The non-conference meeting will take place at STAPLES Center as part of the second annual Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.
The one-day doubleheader will also feature St. John's playing Arizona State. Tip times and broadcast information will be released at a later date.
“We're very excited to play in this marquee event next season,” said OU head coach Lon Kruger. “Not only will our players have an opportunity to play in one of the most famous arenas in the world, but this event pits us against a very talented USC team. Coach Enfield has done a fantastic job in his few years with the Trojans and it promises to be a great matchup for our team and fans.”
The Sooners own a 6-5 all-time record against the Trojans. The two teams most recently met in 2008 in Norman as part of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series with the Sooners claiming a 73-72 victory.
Oklahoma has been invited to participate in a Basketball Hall of Fame event for two consecutive seasons. Last year, the Sooners faced Auburn in the Birthday of Basketball at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
Tickets for the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic will go on-sale to the general public on Saturday, May 6 at noon CT via AXS.com, by phone at 888-929-7849 and the STAPLES Center box office.
