TULSA, Okla. – Playing its final non-conference game of the regular season, the No. 7/7 Oklahoma softball team (42-7) pushed its winning streak to 17 games Wednesday night with a 4-1 victory over Tulsa (29-18) at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

The current run is tied for the sixth best in OU history and is the longest since also winning 17 in a row from Feb. 8 to March 2 in 2013. In addition to the current streak, OU has also won 24 of its past 25 games to emerge as one of the hottest teams in the country.

Meeting for the first time since 2014, Oklahoma won its fifth straight contest over Tulsa. During the current streak OU has outscored the Golden Hurricane by a combined score of 20-3.

Sophomore Paige Parker earned the win and is now 24-3 on the season. She struck out nine and allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks. She's now earned a win in 14 straight appearances.

Senior Erin Miller tied a season high with three hits. She leads the team with 23 multi-hit games and five three-hit efforts this season. Sophomore Nicole Pendley also had a multi-hit game with a single and the first triple of her career.

Freshman Caleigh Clifton was 1-3 with a walk, run scored and hit by pitch to extend her on-base streak to 23 games. During that span she's posted 22 hits and 21 walks and has been hit by 11 pitches.

After three scoreless innings, OU finally broke through in the fourth with a two-out rally.

With two outs, senior Kady Self roped her ninth double of the season to right-center. After a walk to sophomore Lea Wodach, junior Macey Hatfield entered as a pinch hitter. She fell behind 1-2 in her team-leading 22nd pinch-hit at-bat of the season, but eventually worked the count full. On the eighth pitch of the at-bat, Hatfield dropped a single into left-center to bring home Self and open the scoring.

OU added to its lead in the very next inning with another two-out rally.

Knighten reached on a fielder's choice with one out. After a flyout, Pendley pulled a shot into the right field corner for her first career triple, driving in Knighten from first and extending the lead to 2-0.

A patient approach at the plate doubled OU's lead in the top of the sixth.

With one on and two out, sophomore Kelsey Arnold stole second and moved to third on an infield single from Clifton. A string of three straight walks followed as Romero walked to fill the bases and Knighten and senior Tori Nirschl followed with free passes to force in a pair of runs, pushing the OU advantage to 4-0.

Tulsa got its lone run in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a single and throwing error. Remarkably, OU has now given up just two earned runs over the last eight contests. Covering 54.0 innings, the staff ERA is a miniscule 0.26 during that stretch.

The Golden Hurricane also had a scoring chance in the second inning that could have changed the complexion of the game, loading the bases with no one out. The Sooners got out of it, however, thanks to its top-ranked defense. Romero fielded at grounder at third base and came home to get the first out. Arnold did the same at shortstop for the second out, while Romero fielded another ground ball for the final out.

After an eight-game swing away from Norman, the Sooners return home this weekend to face Texas Tech. Oklahoma can clinch a share of the Big 12 title with a series win and can win it outright with a sweep. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., while Saturday is set for a 1 p.m. start and Sunday is at 3 p.m.
