SATURDAY'S GAME BASICS

No. 3/3 Oklahoma returns to the Lloyd Noble Center to host the No. 6/6 Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT. OU, which is 20-3 overall and tied atop the Big 12 standings with an 8-3 conference record, is in its fifth season under head coach Lon Kruger. The Jayhawks are 20-4 this season (8-3 Big 12) and are under the direction of Bill Self, who is in his 13th campaign in Lawrence.

Saturday marks the second matchup between OU and KU this season. The two teams battled in an epic 3OT thriller in Lawrence on Jan. 4, where the Jayhawks eventually outlasted the Sooners by a 109-106 final tally. The Jayhawks are the only team in the Big 12 to hold an all-time series advantage over the Sooners (143-66). KU owns a 50-42 advantage in games played in Norman.

ON THE AIR

Saturday's contest will air on the Sooner Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM “The Franchise” in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa) with Toby Rowland and Scott Thompson announcing. The matchup will be televised by ESPN with Dan Shulman, Jay Bilas and Shannon Spake calling the action. 

ESPN's College GameDay will host its morning show live from the Lloyd Noble Center on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. CT. Admission is free to the public (gym will be cleared at the conclusion of the show). CLICK HERE to view a list of student incentives the university is offering on Saturday.

TICKETS

The game is sold out. Restricted admission tickets WILL NOT be sold for this game. OU students with season tickets may simply swipe their Sooner One Cards at the door to enter. OU student ticket holders who attend ESPN's College GameDay will receive a 'fast pass' wristband, earning them first entry into OU-KU game.

GAMEDAY STORYLINES

• SCENE SETTER: No. 3/3 Oklahoma returns to the Lloyd Noble Center to host the No. 6/6 Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT. OU, which is 20-3 overall and tied atop the Big 12 standings with an 8-3 conference record, is in its fifth season under head coach Lon Kruger. OU has won 19 straight games at home and five of its last six overall. The Jayhawks are 20-4 this season (8-3 Big 12) and are under the direction of Bill Self, who is in his 13th campaign in Lawrence. KU has won its last four games entering Saturday.

• OU vs. Kansas Part II: Saturday marks the second meeting between Oklahoma and Kansas this season. The two teams battled in an epic 3OT thriller on Jan. 4 in Lawrence, where KU eventually outlasted OU, 109-106. Arguably the game of the season in college basketball, Buddy Hield poured in a career-high 46 points to lead OU (tied sixth-highest total in school history).

• SERVING TREYS: OU currently ranks first in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (.451) by hitting 252-559 of its shots from downtown. Oklahoma's all-time record for 3-point field goal percentage in a campaign is .414 (1986-87). OU has connected on at least 10 treys in 15 games this year (a school record) and it's 11.0 3-point makes per game ranks fourth nationally. OU's starting five is averaging 47.0 percent from 3-point range (214 for 455). 

BUDDY BUCKETS: Senior Buddy Hield is currently averaging 25.7 points per game, which ranks first in the Big 12 and second nationally (first among Power 5 conferences). The reigning Big 12 Player of the Year has scored at least 20 points in 17 games this season and his 50.0 percent (96-192) shooting from downtown ranks second in the country. His 4.17 3FGM per game is tops in the nation. He has eight games of at least 30 points this season (same total as rest of Big 12 combined).

• STEADFAST SOONERS: Oklahoma isn't short on experience or leadership this season. OU's quartet of Isaiah Cousins, Buddy Hield, Ryan Spangler and Jordan Woodard have each started every game (91 total) for OU the past three seasons, tallying 364 combined starts during that span. With the addition of Khadeem Lattin (23 starts), OU boasts a starting five with 414 combined career starts. 

FIVE FAST FACTS ON KU

• The Jayhawks are coached by Oklahoma native Bill Self, who is now in his 13th campaign in Lawrence. Kansas enters Saturday's game winners of its last four contests.

• No. 6/6 Kansas is 20-4 overall and 8-3 in Big 12 play. The Jayhawks are 13-0 in Allen Fieldhouse, 3-3 in true road games and 6-4 away from AFH this season. 

• KU averages 83.0 points per game (best in the Self era) and has a +14.3 scoring margin. The Jayhawks are fifth nationally with a 42.2 3-point field goal percentage. 

• Out of its 20 victories of the season, Kansas has won by 10 or more points in 14 of those wins, including each of the last three games. Five of those wins have been by 30 points or more.

• The Jayhawks are led by Perry Ellis, who is averaging 16.9 points and 6.5 rebounds (both team highs). Also averaging double-digit scoring are Wayne Selden Jr. (14.4), Frank Mason III (13.1) and Devonte' Graham (10.7).

• The Sooners have won 19 consecutive home games (12-0 this season) inside Lloyd Noble Center.

• OU (20-3) currently owns the best overall winning percentage (.870) in the Big 12. The Sooners (8-3) are currently tied atop the Big 12 standings with Kansas and West Virginia.

• The Sooners rank in the top 25 in both scoring offense with 84.1 points per game (10th) and scoring margin (+12.7, 22nd) by holding opponents to just 71.4 points per contest. 

• OU enters Saturday's contest having scored at least 80 points in 15 of 23 total outings this season (averaging 84.1 points per game, which is ranked 10th nationally). OU is 14-1 this season when scoring 80-plus points.

• The Sooners currently rank third in the conference in field goal percentage defense (.400). OU is currently first in the Big 12 and eighth in the country in blocked shots per game (5.8).

• Oklahoma currently ranks first in the country in 3-point field goal percentage (.451). OU's all-time record for 3-point field goal percentage in a season is .414 (1986-87). The Big 12's record is .426 by Oklahoma State (2004-05).

• OU's average of 11.0 3-point makes per game ranks fourth nationally. The 11.0 average would mark the 12th-most in NCAA history if the season ended today (Big 12 record stands at 9.9 by Iowa State in 2012-13).

• OU has made at least 10 treys in 15 games this season (which marks a school record). In 35 contests last year, the Sooners registered just seven games of double-digit 3-point makes. 

• Buddy Hield (.500), Jordan Woodard (.486) and Isaiah Cousins (.468) currently rank as the first-, second- and third-best 3-point shooters in the Big 12. 

• Collectively, Oklahoma's starting five is averaging 47.0 percent from 3-point range (214 for 455). 

• Oklahoma is currently shooting better from downtown (.451) than five teams in the Big 12 are shooting overall from the field (Texas Tech-.439, Texas-.437, Oklahoma State-.437, Kansas State-.431, TCU-.411). 

#BUDDYBUCKETS

• On the season, Buddy Hield is averaging 25.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals in 34.3 minutes per game. He's shooting .518 (192-371) from the field, .500 (96-192) from 3-point range (which ranks No. 2 in the nation) and .902 (111-123) from the charity stripe.

•  The senior is currently the only player in the country averaging greater than 50.0 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from 3 and 90 percent from the foul line (min. 20 FT attempts).

• Hield's 4.17 3FGM per game ranks first in nation. He has made at least five 3-pointers in a game nine times this year.

• Hield has scored at least 20 points in 17 of 23 games this season after doing it 13 times in 35 games last season. He has 13 games this year of at least 25 points. In his first three seasons, he combined for six games of at least 25 points.

• Hield has eight games this season scoring at least 30 points (same number as the rest of the players in the Big 12 combined). It's the most 30-point games by a Sooner in a season since Jeff Webster in the 1993-94 season (10).

• Hield has shot at least 50 percent from 3-point range in eight of the last 11 games (57 for 113; .504) and in 13 of the last 17 outings.

• If the season ended today, Hield would be one of only three players in Big 12 history to average at least 25.0 points and 5.0 rebounds (Michael Beasley, 07-08, and Kevin Durant, 06-07).

• Hield's 25.7 points per game would be the third-highest season average in Big 12 history. Kansas State's Michael Beasley owns record with 26.2 ppg and Texas' Kevin Durant stands second with 25.8.

UP NEXT

• The Sooners hit the road for their second matchup of the season versus Texas Tech in Lubbock on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. CT.

• OU defeated TTU in the first meeting this season, 91-67, on Jan. 26 in Norman. Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Tech, 37-21, and is a winner of three straight. In Lubbock, the teams have both won 13 contests.
