NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team lost to Iowa State, 3-1, at McCasland Field House on Wednesday night. The Sooners, who have dropped five of six matches, fell to 13-12 overall and 4-8 in the Big 12, while the Cyclones improved to 15-9 and 7-5.

Oklahoma led by as many as four in the first set before Iowa State came back for a 28-26 win. The Sooners then won the second, 25-20, as they hit .485 to the Cyclones' .412. Iowa State went back in front with a 25-22 win in the third as it held off a late OU run that trimmed the lead to one.

The Sooners appeared poised to force a fifth set as they led 20-17 in the fourth, but the Cyclones finished the night on an 8-3 run to win the set, 25-20, and claim the match.

Six ISU players reached double figures for kills with Jess Schaben leading the way with 14. Morgan Kuhrt was second with 13 kills on a .364 attack rate. Samara West hit a team-high .526 with 11 kills and just one error.

Junior middle blocker Marion Hazelwood (Beach City, Texas) led the Oklahoma offense with 17 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Kimmy Gardiner (Grapevine, Texas) tallied 14 kills, hit .367 and matched her career-high in digs with 19. Senior middle blocker Micaela Spann (Carrollton, Texas) was the third Sooner in double digits with 12 kills and eight blocks, including two solos.

Iowa State hit a collective .281 for the match and held Oklahoma to hit .228. The Sooners posted 13 blocks to the Cyclones' nine.

Sophomore setter Audrey Alford (Norman, Okla.) recorded 51 assists and a career-high five blocks. Redshirt-sophomore libero Rachel Manriquez (Edmond, Okla.) was second on the team with 16 digs.

Monique Harris totaled 30 assists and Suzanne Horner shared the setting duties with 28 assists off the bench. They each recorded a double-double with dig totals of 10 and 11, respectively. Hali Hillegas led ISU with 19 digs.

The Sooners remain home this weekend to face Texas Tech on Saturday, November 12 at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
