STILLWATER, Okla. By a score of 2-0, the Oklahoma soccer team picked up its fourth consecutive Bedlam victory over in-state foe Oklahoma State on Friday night at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.

The Sooners (11-4-1 overall, 4-2-0 Big 12) garnered scores from an own goal and senior midfielder/forward Madison Saliba to top the Cowgirls (7-6-3 overall, 2-3-1 Big 12).

The win was the eighth in school history for OU over OSU and the sixth under head coach Matt Potter's direction. The Sooners have won five Bedlam matches in the last six contests and are now 6-3-1 against the Cowgirls under Potter, who is in his fifth season at the helm of the program.

Earlier this season, OU snagged a 1-0 victory in the non-conference meeting and has now swept the Cowgirls for the second straight year (the teams have played twice a year in the regular season since 2010).

"Incredibly proud of how this team continues to thrive in difficult situations," Potter said. "The engagement, commitment and execution of the game plan was what gave us the platform to beat an in form OSU team on the road. We delivered as good a road performance as we have seen, and that's a great sign at this point in the season. To keep OSU goalless is a great accomplishment. Total team effort. Proud and pleased for the group. Now we get to rest up and gear up for Senior Night next week."

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Kassidie Stade and the OU defense tallied their sixth shutout of the season and third of conference play. Stade, who now holds a 11-4-1 record this season, finished the match with a late save to preserve the clean sheet.

OU put on the pressure early, generating nine shots in the first half, four of which were on goal, to OSU's one look, and taking five corner kicks to the Cowgirls' one. The Sooners continued to control the pace throughout the match and finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots.

The early pressure paid off as the Sooners' fourth corner kick of the match, taken by Saliba, led to an own goal in the 21st minute and a 1-0 OU lead.

On a free kick from just outside the left corner of the 18-yard box, Saliba built the OU lead to 2-0 as she sent the ball through the OSU defenders and into the net in the 48th minute. The score was the third of the season for the Broken Arrow, Okla., native.

The Sooners next play at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Oct. 21, when they host Kansas for Senior Night in their 2016 regular season home finale. OU then heads to Cal St. Northridge for a non-conference contest at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday, Oct. 23, in Northridge, Calif.

This season, the Sooners are celebrating 20 years of their program, which began in 1996. Tickets are available online through SoonerSports.com or over the phone at (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at 800-456-GoOU.
