Stade Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

NORMAN — Oklahoma junior goalkeeper Kassidie Stade has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week following two shutouts last weekend, the conference announced Tuesday.

Stade tallied shutouts against No. 15 Texas Tech and Iowa State last Friday and Sunday, respectively, to open Big 12 play. The Sooners battled to a 0-0 two-overtime tie with the Red Raiders and defeated the Cyclones by a score of 3-0.

Against the Red Raiders, the Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., native achored an OU defense that held Texas Tech scoreless despite OU being down a player for 40 minutes following an ejection. Stade had four saves on the weekend and is riding a 349-minute shutout streak dating back to the 31st minute of the Tulsa contest on Friday, Sept. 18.

Stade was honored alongside Ashley Pankey of Kansas (Offensive Player of the Week) and Jackie Crowther of Baylor (Freshman of the Week).

The Sooners are back in action on Tuesday as they face Oral Roberts at 2 p.m. CT in Tulsa, Okla. The match was rescheduled after the original meeting, held on Sept. 4, was canceled following a power outage at John Crain Field in Norman.
