When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade.
When it hands you an 11 a.m. kickoff, like it did this week as No. 15 Oklahoma battles No. 23 West Virginia, you make eggs and bacon. Or breakfast burritos. Or sausage.
An early kick means you've got to shake a few things up with the pregame plan. Here are our top tips to transform your tailgate for an 11 a.m. kickoff.
Burgers and hot dogs are off the list for breakfast (unless you're that guy, which is fine. No judgment here). Swap them out for bacon and eggs. Make it tailgate-friendly by wrapping them in a flour tortilla and you've just made yourself a Boomer Breakfast Burrito.
Trouble grilling bacon and eggs you say? Grab an inexpensive cookie sheet and flip it for an on-the-go griddle you can use on your grill. Careful though, the high temperatures could warp the sheet pan.
Not up for cooking? Visit Allstate Fan Fest, where we'll have food trucks waiting for you, including Chick 'N' Wangs, Big O's Pork and Dreams, MOB Grill and Mutt's Hot Dogs.
An early kick means less time in the morning. The solution? Don't get dressed. Just wear this. Oh – it's Stripe the Stadium, you say? Problem. Solved.
The sun will be up just before 7:30 a.m. If you plan on setting up a TV to watch a little Sooner Sports Game Day, make sure the front of the TV faces north to avoid glare. You may even consider adjusting your traditional tailgating location to find the morning shade.
We got a lot of suggestions about beverage options for the morning. Most involved some combination of orange juice, tomato juice and "enjoying responsibly." We'll direct you instead to the Huffington Post's Taste Test of Instant Coffees, the best of which "weren't discernable from regular coffee."
That's all we've got. Comment below to tell us what we missed!
