NORMAN – The top-ranked Oklahoma men's gymnastics team defeated No. 6 California in its final regular season road meet of the season on Sunday by a score of 443.300 to 430.800. The victory improves the Sooners to 12-0 on the season.

The Sooners score of 443.300 gives the program a score of 440 or higher in all six competitions in 2015. OU is the only team in the NCAA to accomplish the feat.

Oklahoma continued its dominance on individual event titles, as the team managed to win or tie for the top spot in five of the six events. Event winners included Mike Squires on rings, Colin Van Wicklen on floor exercise, Michael Reid on parallel bars, Danny Berardini on high bar and Allan Bower on pommel horse. The Sooners have now won 33 of 36 individual event titles in 2015.

The meet had a unique setup, as the Cal women's team hosted UC-Davis simultaneously to make it a coed meet. Because of the configuration, Oklahoma started on high bar and parallel bars and then did walk-ins and introductions, as television coverage started for the final four rotations, which were pommel horse, floor exercise, vault and still rings.

The Sooners started the competition with a team score of 73.050 on the high bar. Leading the way for OU was Berardini, who nailed his set to score a 15.400. Other members of the Crimson and Cream who had quality performances on the apparatus were William Clement (14.800) and Jacoby Rubin (14.600).

For the second rotation Oklahoma moved to parallel bars, where the squad turned in three scores above a 15. Reid posted the best performance of his career on the event, scoring a personal-best 15.450. Dylan Akers and Sergey Resnick also excelled on the parallel bars. Akers matched his career-high score with a 15.200 and Resnick posted a 15.100 to help give OU a team score of 74.200 on the apparatus.

After the 20 minute break the Sooners moved on to the pommel horse for the third event of the day. The Crimson and Cream was solid on the event, as all five scores were between 14.250 and 14.950. Bower claimed the event title with a 14.950. Other Sooners who performed well on the horse were Resnick (14.900), Rubin (14.850) and Robin (14.800).

Freshman Hunter Justus started the team on a high note on the floor exercise, earning a score of 15.100. After two subpar routines Robin got the Sooners back on track with a great set for a 15.500. Van Wicklen, the anchor, put an exclamation mark on the floor for OU, as he turned in a brilliant routine to score a 15.750 and tie with Cal's Kevin Wolting for the event title. The Sooners posted a team score of 74.650 on the floor exercise.

For the second straight event Oklahoma got off to a great start, thanks in part to Josh Yee, who posted a team-high score of 15.050 on the vault. Bower and Van Wicklen nearly matched Yee's mark, as each performed clean vaults to score a 15.000 and aid the Sooners in notching a team score of 73.300.

The Crimson and Cream finished the meet on rings, posting a team event mark of 74.350. Squires, as he has all season, led the way for OU on the apparatus with a score of 16.000. The senior has now scored a 16 or higher in five of six competitions this season. Thao Hoang also hit a good set on the rings, tallying a 15.000.

The Sooners will return home for its final dual meet of the season, as OU hosts No. 8 Ohio State at the Lloyd Noble Center on Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. The Crimson and Cream will honor its seniors with Senior Night.
