• Down 49-40, No. 3 seed Oklahoma outscored No. 11 seed Dayton 32-17 over the final 12:58 to advance to its 10th Sweet 16 in school history and first since 2009. OU will play No. 7 seed Michigan State in the East Region semifinals on Friday at 9:07 CT in Syracuse, N.Y. at the Carrier Dome. The Sooners are the highest remaining seed in the East Region.
• OU went 9 for 18 from 3-point range on the night. The nine 3-pointers were its most in seven games and its 50-percent mark was its highest in 12 contests. The Sooners entered the game averaging 6.8 treys per outing on the year but were 8 for 13 in the first half tonight.
• The Sooners posted a 35-23 rebounding advantage, the fourth straight game they have outboarded their opponent by at least five. Dayton's 23 rebounds were the fewest by an opponent this year (by four).
• Jordan Woodard led OU with 16 points and was clutch down the stretch at the free throw line, going 9-for-10 at the charity stripe (all 10 attempts in the final 2:57). The sophomore point guard added 3 assists and 4 steals.
• Big 12 Player of the Year Buddy Hield contributed 15 points and a team-high 5 assists. Hield has scored in double figures in 27 of the last 28 games.
• Frank Booker came off the bench to go 4 for 6 from 3-point range and score 12 points. It was just the fifth double-digit scoring effort this season for the sophomore.
• Junior Ryan Spangler pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds (no Flyer had more than five), marking the 22nd time in 34 games this season he led the Sooners on the glass.
• Lon Kruger became the only active head coach to take four schools to the Sweet 16 (Kansas State, Florida, UNLV and Oklahoma).
