THURSDAY'S OKLAHOMA STATE RECAP
• After falling behind 32-23 early in the second half, No. 3 seed Oklahoma outscored No. 6 seed Oklahoma State 41-17 over the final 17:28 to post a 64-49 win in the Big 12 Championship quarterfinals. The victory was OU's fifth straight against Oklahoma State and gave the Sooners their first three-game sweep of the Cowboys since the 1984-85 season.
• The Sooners trailed 26-21 at halftime. The 21 points (they shot 23 percent from the field) were their fewest in a half this season. They rebounded for 43 points after halftime on 50-percent shooting. OSU shot 35 percent in both halves.
Oklahoma's seven wins against AP-ranked opponents (at the time of competition) are the most in school single-season history.
• OSU (.731) and OU (.727) entered the game as the Big 12's best free throw shooting teams. The Sooners shot .905 from the line Thursday (19 for 21) while the Cowboys shot .533 (8 for 15). OU now leads the league with its .733 season mark.
• Big 12 Player of the Year Buddy Hield struggled in the first half, scoring 6 points on 2-for-8 shooting before erupting for 16 in the second half. He was 3 for 6 from 3-point range on the night and 9 for 9 at the free throw line (nine makes were a career high). Hield moved into 19th place on OU's all-time scoring chart with 1,299 points, passing Blake Griffin (1,278) and Cameron Clark (1,284).
• In his first Big 12 Championship appearance, senior forward TaShawn Thomas recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Thomas scored 11 points in the second half.
• Ryan Spangler pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds, the most by a Sooner this season and the third most of his career.
• Le'Bryan Nash scored an OU-opponent-season-high 27, but the Sooners held Phil Forte, the Big 12's third-leading scorer, to 3 points on 1-for-10 shooting (0 for 7 from long range). In three games against OSU this year, OU limited Forte to 1-for-15 3-point shooting.
• The Sooners' 6 turnovers on the night were their second fewest of the season. OU outscored the Cowboys 12-8 off turnovers, marking the ninth time in the last 11 games and 24th time in 31 contests this year it has won the category.
THIS YEAR VS. THE CYCLONES
Oklahoma and Iowa State split the regular season series, with the Sooners winning 94-83 Feb. 9 in Norman and the Cyclones claiming a 77-70 decision March 2 in Ames. In the first meeting, No. 17 OU came back from a 10-point first-half deficit to take a 20-point second-half lead in an eventual 94-83 win over No. 14 ISU. TaShawn Thomas led five Sooners in double figures with 22 points (11-for-18 shooting) and tied season highs with 11 rebounds (third double-double of year) and 5 assists while adding 3 blocks. Ryan Spangler also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards, while Isaiah Cousins scored 19 points (3 for 4 from 3-point range), Buddy Hield 17 (3 for 8 from 3-point range) and Frank Booker 14 (4 for 6 from 3-point range).
In the rematch, the No. 15 Sooners led by 21 points early in the second half and were up 48-28 with 14:55 remaining before getting outscored 49-22 the rest of the way. After scoring 18 points in the first 20 minutes (its fewest in a half this season), No. 16 ISU scored 59 after halftime (at the time a season high for points in a half). Hield scored a game-high 26 points while Cousins added 12 and Jordan Woodard 10. Georges Niang paced the Cyclones with 23 points (20 after halftime) while Monté Morris added 19 (16 after half).

SOONER TIP-INS
• Oklahoma sports a 21-15 (.583) Big 12 Championship record, good for the event's second best winning percentage behind only Kansas. It has won at least one tournament game in 12 of the event's 19 years and has reached the semifinals nine times (is 5-3). OU's three tournament titles (2001, 2002 and 2003) are the second most, behind Kansas' nine. The Sooners have played in five of the 18 Big 12 title games. OU's conference tourney history is on pages 113-115 of the media guide.
• Oklahoma owns a 113-83 all-time record against Iowa State and is 5-3 against the Cyclones in conference postseason play (1-2 in the Big 12 era; won 68-63 in the 2007 first round and lost 70-58 in the 2000 title game and 73-66 in the 2013 quarterfinals).
• Oklahoma's seven wins against AP-ranked opponents (at the time of competition) are the most in school single-season history. The previous record of six wins vs. AP-ranked teams was set in 1988-89 (No. 1 NCAA seed) and matched in 2001-02 (advanced to Final Four).
• The Sooners have played 13 games against AP Top-25 opponents (at the time of competition) this season, tied with Kansas for second most in the nation (Oklahoma State has played 14). OU and Kansas have also played a nation-high 20 games each against teams that have been ranked for at least one week this season. The Sooners are No. 16 in the NCAA RPI (as of Thursday) while Iowa State is No. 11.
• Oklahoma has held 24 of 31 opponents below their season average in points (at the time of competition). In fact, OU has held its 31 opponents to an average of 9 points below their season average. On the year, the Sooners are holding foes to 62.6 points a game and limiting them to .383 field goal shooting (ranks 16th nationally out of 351 teams) and .307 3-point shooting (ranks 45th). By comparison, opponents averaged 76.0 points on .437 field goal and .342 3-point shooting last season.
• OU has outscored its opponents off turnovers in nine of the last 11 games, in 19 of the last 24 and in 24 of 31 contests on the year.
• OU's .383 opponent field goal percentage would be the lowest since 1959-60 (.339) if the season was over. Only once in the last 53 years have the Sooners held their opponents to a season field goal mark under .400 (.398 in 2008-09; Blake Griffin's final year at OU).
• Oklahoma is one of just seven teams nationally (the only one among the "Power 5" conferences) that has started the same five players in every game this season. Interestingly, OU was one of just seven teams nationally that used the same starting lineup in every game last year. Buddy Hield, Isaiah Cousins, Ryan Spangler and Jordan Woodard have all started the last 64 games while TaShawn Thomas has started all 127 of his career contests (96 at Houston).
• OU led the Big 12 in free throw shooting each of the last two years (.749 last season and .756 in 2012-13) and is shooting .733 this year to again lead the league. Woodard ranks fourth in the Big 12 (.838) while Hield ranks sixth (.819).
