Oklahoma vs. Texas
Feb. 17, 2015
• No. 17 Oklahoma went on a late-game 13-2 run to go from down six points to up five in an eventual 71-69 home win over Texas to complete its second straight season sweep of the Longhorns.
• The Sooners trailed much of the second half and were down by as many as 7 with 6:15 remaining. It was just OU's second win by single digits this season (other was 64-56 at Oklahoma State on Jan. 31).
• Oklahoma was outshot 43.6 percent to 36.1 percent from the field and watched the Longhorns reject an opponent-season-high 13 shots, but the Sooners committed a season-low 5 turnovers (no OU player had more than one) as they won for the sixth time in the last seven games. OU entered the contest shooting .495 this season at Lloyd Noble Center.
• Sophomore point guard Jordan Woodard scored 6 of his team-high 13 points in the final 3:13, including a contested layup with 1:33 to go that put OU up for good. Woodard also handed out a team-high 5 assists and registered 2 steals while committing just 1 turnover in 35 minutes. He was 2 for 3 from 3-point range.
• Sophomore guard Buddy Hield worked through an off-shooting night to finish with 12 points. He was 4 for 17 from the field and 1 for 6 from 3-point range while adding 4 rebounds and 2 steals. He has scored in double figures in 20 straight games. Hield's mother was supposed to attend the game from the Bahamas but her flight was delayed and was not able to attend.
• Sophomore guard Frank Booker came off the bench to score in double figures for the second straight home game. Booker was 2 for 4 from 3-point land and totaled 10 points and a season-high-tying 4 rebounds. It was just his third double-digit scoring game of the season. Booker scored a season-high 14 last Monday against Iowa State.
• Junior guard Dinjiyl Walker scored 10 points in 10 minutes in a reserve role, his most points since finishing with 10 at Texas on Jan. 5. Walker, who had five total points over OU's last eight games, was 4 for 5 from the field tonight and hit both of his 3-point attempts (he was shooting 22.2 percent from long distance on the season before tonight).
• Junior Ryan Spangler tallied 9 points and 9 boards. It was the 17th time in 26 games this year he led OU in rebounding.
• OU outscored Texas 18-6 off turnovers. The Sooners have outscored their opponents off turnovers in 16 of the last 19 games and in 21 of 26 contests on the year. In their 13 home games, they have posted a 266-111 scoring advantage off turnovers.
• The game marked the Sooners' nation-leading 16th against a team that has been ranked in the AP Top 25 for at least one week this season. OU leads the country with 11 games against AP Top-25 teams at the time of competition. Texas is the team receiving the most votes that is not in this week's AP Top 25.
• OU is back in action Saturday at Texas Tech at 11 a.m. (televised by ESPNEWS).
