NORMAN Kaylon Williams recorded a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds as No. 18 Oklahoma women's basketball won its 11th straight Big 12 opener with a 67-44 victory over Kansas on Wednesday at Lloyd Noble Center.

Williams, who was just one rebound shy of her fourth consecutive double-double, finished the night 9 of 13 from the floor to pick up her third 20-point scoring game of the season. The redshirt senior forward has scored in double figures in all 12 games this season.

“I thought what Kaylon (Williams) did so well tonight was she was very in control when she caught the ball in the post,” OU head coach Sherri Coale said. “Sometimes she gets a little sped up. She wasn't sped up in the second half tonight. She was very gathered and centered, and she made some terrific post moves. She really allowed herself to read her defender and then go score.”

Derica Wyatt poured in 14 points for the Sooners (10-2, 1-0 Big 12), knocking down 4 of 7 from the 3-point line. Wyatt's four triples tied a season-high and finished the night 5 of 9 from the floor. Peyton Little and Gabbi Ortiz chipped in seven points for Oklahoma.

The Sooners' defense stifled Kansas (5-7, 0-1 Big 12) early in the first quarter, holding the Jayhawks to just six points in the opening frame as OU jumped out to an early 16-6 advantage. The six points by Kansas in the first quarter were the fewest by an OU opponent this season.

OU closed the game by outscoring Kansas, 36-23, in the second half. K. Williams poured in nine of her 21 points in the second half and pulled down five rebounds while LaNesia Williams provided a spark off the bench with six points in the fourth quarter as the Sooners stretched their lead to 21 points with less than five minutes to play.

“It's always great to start conference play 1-0. I liked our energy. I liked our connection. I like our shot selection and I really like the fact that we got out in transition. It seems like it's been awhile since we got some open looks in transition,” Coale said after the win. “We got ourselves to the free throw line that way. I thought we guarded really well. They're a lot harder to guard than it looked like tonight and I just thought we did a really good job staying in front of the dribble and communicating on screens. It was a much-improved job on the boards too.”

The Sooners finished the night shooting 27 of 63 (.429) from the floor, while Kansas was 18 of 57 (.316). OU continued its trend of dominating the glass at home, outrebounding the Jayhawks 46-30. The Sooners were 6 of 18 (.333) from range, while Kansas was just 4 of 18 (.222) from behind the arc.

Junior guard Gioya Carter saw her first action of the season, finishing with two points, two rebounds and an assist in 15 minutes of action. McKenna Treece led the Sooners with three blocks, while Maddie Manning dished five of OU's 15 assists and pulled down six rebounds. All 13 OU players saw action in the victory.

The win moved Oklahoma to 18-2 all-time in Big 12 openers under Coale. The Sooners are also 16-4 in Big 12 home openers at Lloyd Noble Center.

OU hits the road for the first time in Big 12 play as it travels to Baylor on Sunday. The game is set to tip-off at 3:30 p.m. CT and will air on Fox Sports 1.
