Eleven Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

NORMAN — Eleven members of the Oklahoma soccer team garnered Academic All-Big 12 honors for the 2015 season, the conference announced on Tuesday. Of OU's selections, eight were named to the first team, while three were placed on the second team.
OU's first-team honorees include juniors Caren Nelson (environmental sustainability), Shiloh Price (arts and sciences planned program), Rachel Ressler (chemical biosciences) and Madison Saliba (health and exercise science).
Sophomores Tori Bowman (business), Madeline Brem (finance), Chelsea Jackson (undecided) and Lizzie Luallin (health and exercise science) also received first-team recognition. Brem was recognized with a 4.0 GPA. This year marks the 12th consecutive season that at least five Sooners have been included on the first team.
Seniors Devin Barrett (political science) and Laura Rayfield (chemical engineering) and junior Jemma Cota (human resources management) were named to the second team.
The conference academic honor was the second of their careers for Barrett, Price, Ressler and Saliba.
The first team consists of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
