November 02, 2015 | Men's Basketball

NORMAN – After debuting at No. 8 in the preseason USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll, the Oklahoma men's basketball team also appears in the No. 8 slot of the preseason AP Top 25 Poll, released Monday.

The Sooners are one of three Big 12 teams that appear in the top 10, as fellow league members Kansas and Iowa State are ranked No. 4 and No. 7, respectively. Baylor (No. 22) is also ranked in the preseason poll.

Oklahoma, led by reigning Big 12 Player of the Year Buddy Hield, returns 75 percent of its scoring, 69 percent of its rebounding and 83 percent of its assists from last season's NCAA Sweet 16 squad. Other returning starters include Isaiah Cousins, Ryan Spangler and Jordan Woodard. Each of those four players has started every game the last two seasons.

The Sooners tip off the 2015-16 campaign this Friday, Nov. 6, with a home exhibition game against Washburn at 7 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center. Oklahoma begins the regular season Nov. 17 on the road against Memphis.
