AUSTIN, Texas — The Oklahoma women's basketball team dropped its first Big 12 Conference contest of the season Thursday, falling to 13th-ranked Texas 84-81 in double-overtime.

The three-point setback halted an eight game winning streak and dropped the Sooners record to 13-6 overall and 7-1 in Big 12. Texas, who had lost four of its last five games, improved to 15-4 overall and 4-4 in league.

It was the third overtime game of the season for Oklahoma and first double-overtime contest of the year. OU is now 1-2 in overtime contests this season.

A total of 10 players contributed a point for Oklahoma in Thursday's loss, led by both Peyton Little (16) and Gioya Carter (16). Freshman Gabbi Ortiz added 13 points, along with six boards and three assists. Maddie Manning had 12 points.

For the game, Oklahoma shot 41.4 percent from the field (29-for-70) and was a solid 78.3 percent from the charity stripe (18-for-23). After hitting 4-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc in the opening half, the Sooners were held to just 1-of-6 in the second half and both overtime periods combined.

By the time the game finally ended, Oklahoma had four players foul out. Sharane Campbell-Olds fouled out at the end of regulation and Kaylon Williams picked up her fifth in the first minute of the first overtime. Manning and Carter both fouled out in the second overtime.

The Sooners led by as many as nine points with less than two minutes to play in the first half before the Longhorns rattled off a 6-0 spurt in the final 1:15 to cut OU's halftime advantage to three at 33-30.

The Sooners stretched their lead back to seven with nine minutes remaining in the second half before Texas went on a 12-2 run to take the lead 58-55 with just under five minutes to go. Down the strech both teams traded baskets. With 20 seconds to go and the game tied at 65, the Sooners got a good look from K. Williams in the paint, but the shot wouldn't fall and the game headed for overtime.

In the first extra session, Texas led by as many as four midway through, but Oklahoma cut the lead to two and came up with a big defensive stop to trail by just two with 20 seconds to go. A driving jumper by Ortiz was blocked out of bounds, and on the in bounds play Little got open on the baseline for a layup that tied the game at 74 at the end of the first overtime.

In the second overtime the Sooners scored the first four points to grab an early lead, but with four key Sooners on the bench with five fouls, the Longhorns would finish the game on a 10-4 run to claim an 84-81 win.

There were 14 total lead changes and 13 ties in the game. Oklahoma led for nearly 30 minutes of game time.

The Sooners return to the court at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 1 when they play at West Virginia.
