Oklahoma at Texas Postgame Notes

Jan. 29, 2015 - Austin, Texas (Fred Erwin Center)

The starting lineup for Oklahoma was: Gabbi Ortiz (G), Peyton Little (G), Gioya Cater (G), Sharane Campbell-Olds (G), Kaylon Williams (F).

It was the third overtime game for Oklahoma and first double-overtime contest of the season. The Sooners are now 1-2 in OT games.

It was the first Big 12 double-overtime contest since Kansas won at Kansas State 89-80 on Feb. 2, 2013.

The loss was the first in Big 12 play for the Sooners. They are now 7-1 in league. The setback also snapped an eight game winning streak.

Oklahoma had four players finish in double-figures: Peyton Little (16), Gioya Carter (16), Gabbi Ortiz (13) and Maddie Manning (12).

The Sooners had four players foul out of the contest: Sharane Campbell-Olds (2nd half: 51 seconds), Kaylon Williams (1st OT, 4:05), Maddie Manning (1st OT, 1:59), Gioya Carter (2nd OT, 2:37).

Oklahoma had four-plus players foul out one other time this season. In a 92-88 setback to Kentucky Nov. 28, OU had six players foul out. LaNesia Williams, Kaylon Williams, Peyton Little, Gabbi Ortiz, Nicole Kornet and Gioya Carter.

There were a combined 54 fouls called in the contest; 29 on Oklahoma and 25 on Texas.

The Sooners went to the free throw line 23 times, sinking 18. The Longhorns went 24 times and hit 16.

Oklahoma hit 4-of-9 3-pointers in the first half and was held to 1-of-6 in the second half and overtime periods combined.

Oklahoma held the 33-30 halftime advantage and was up seven (53-46) with 9:10 remaining in the second half.

In the first overtime period, Peyton Little scored eight of the Sooners nine points – and the final eight at that. She hit a jumper with six seconds remaining to tie the game at 74 and send into the second OT.  She did not score in the second overtime.

Oklahoma and Texas also split the series last season. This season, the Sooners upset then-fourth ranked Texas Jan. 14 by the score of 70-59.
