Oklahoma at West Virginia Postgame Notes
Feb. 1, 2015 – Morgantown, W. Va. (WVU Coliseum)
Oklahoma starters for the game were Gabbi Ortiz (G), Peyton Little (G), Gioya Carter (G), Sharane Campbell-Olds (G), Kaylon Williams (F).
The Sooners lost their second straight game. They had won eight in a row and seven in Big 12 before their double-overtime loss at Texas, Jan. 29.
Oklahoma is now 0-3 when playing at the WVU Coliseum and trail the all-time series 5-3. This is the only place in Big 12 that Coach Coale has yet to win a game at.
Kaylon Williams and Gioya Carter were hit with early foul trouble for the second consecutive game. Williams played three minutes before getting called for her second foul and Carter played four. Both sat for the rest of the contest.
The Sooners were held to 20 first half points. The last time they were held to 20 or less points in a half was March 1, 2014 when they tallied 19 in the first half of a 76-66 loss at TCU.
Peyton Little lead the Sooners with 15 points. All of her points came in the second half. All of Kaylon Williams' points (10) also came in the second half.
Gioya Carter fouled out for the second consecutive contest and for the sixth time this year.
Gioya Carter was averaging 17.8 points in league action heading into the game against West Virginia. Carter finished the game with seven points and was held to 1-of-8 shooting from the field.
Freshman Vionise Pierre-Louis led the OU offense in the first half with nine points, hitting 3-of-3 from the field and 3-of-5 from the charity stripe. Pierre-Louis did not see any action in the second half. The nine points tied a career-high. She also had four boards in the game.
The Sooners went to the free throw line 22 times and made 19. Oklahoma has gone to the charity stripe 20-plus times in all but one Big 12 game this season.
Oklahoma and West Virginia were called for a combined 51 fouls. The Sooners were called for 26 fouls and the Mountaineers 25. This is the second straight game OU has played in that 50-plus fouls were called in the contest and fourth time this year.
