Sooners in the Playoffs

With the 2014 NFL regular season complete, nine former Sooners have moved on to the playoffs.

In the AFC, No. 3 Pittsburgh with quarterback Landry Jones hosts No. 6 Baltimore, whose roster includes defensive tackle Casey Walker, on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. CT on NBC.

In the other AFC Wildcard matchup, tight end Jermaine Gresham and the fifth-seeded Cincinnati Bengals travel to Indianapolis to face the fourth-seeded Colts on Sunday at 12:05 p.m. CT on CBS.

Meanwhile, linebacker Corey Nelson and the No. 2 Denver Broncos have a bye and will host the highest winning seed on Jan. 11 at 3:40 p.m. on CBS.

In the NFC, defensive end David King and the Seattle Seahawks earned a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. They will meet the lowest winning seed on Jan. 10 at 7:15 p.m. on FOX.

One Wildcard matchup features three former Sooners as No. 3 Dallas, including running back DeMarco Murray and tight end James Hanna play host to wide receiver Ryan Broyles and the sixth-ranked Detroit Lions. That game will be played Sunday at 3:40 p.m. on FOX.

In the other Wildcard game, fourth-seeded Carolina and defensive end Frank Alexander host the No. 5 Arizona Cardinals, featuring safety Tony Jefferson, Saturday at 3:35 p.m. on ESPN.

Brown Released by Steelers

Wide receiver Justin Brown was released by Pittsburgh on Tuesday. In his first season on an active roster, Brown played in eight games with 12 catches for 94 yards. He last played in Week 11, while his last reception came in Week Six. He was made inactive for the final five games of the season.

Brown's best performance came in his NFL debut in Week One as he caught three passes for 38 yards.

Murray ran for exactly 100 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown, on 20 carries to set the Dallas single-season rushing record, and he caught three passes for 21 yards, while Hanna caught one pass for two yards as Dallas rolled over Washington, 44-17 … in the loss for Washington, Trent Williams started at left tackle, Chris Chester started at right guard and Tress Way averaged 44.0 yards on four punts … Gresham caught three passes for 20 yards, including a five-yard touchdown, but Cincinnati lost to Pittsburgh, 27-17 … wide receiver Kenny Stills caught five passes for a game-high 82 yards, linebacker Curtis Lofton had 10 tackles and Jalen Saunders returned one punt for three yards as New Orleans topped Tampa Bay, 23-20 … cornerback Jamell Fleming recorded six tackles for Kansas City in a 19-7 win over San Diego … rookie cornerback Aaron Colvin made four tackles but Jacksonville lost to Houston, 23-17 … defensive back Demontre Hurst had three tackles for Chicago in a 13-9 loss to Minnesota ... running back Damien Williams caught two passes for 22 yards but Miami lost to the New York Jets, 37-24 … Nelson had two tackles for Denver in a 47-14 win over Oakland … Walker assisted on one tackle as Baltimore defeated Cleveland, 20-10 … in the loss for the Browns, kicker Garrett Hartley made a 38-yard field goal and an extra point … after missing the first 16 weeks of the regular season due to being suspended, Alexander made his 2014 debut with one tackle in a 34-3 win over Atlanta … Lane Johnson started at right tackle for Philadelphia as the Eagles beat the New York Giants, 34-26 … Davin Joseph was the starting right guard for St. Louis in its 20-6 loss to Seattle
