Sooners Invade the Sunshine State

After weeks of planning and preparation, the Sooners finally made the trek to Orlando on Tuesday. The players, coaches and staff started pouring into the team hotel a little after noon and settled in for the week-long stay.

The Sooner players were happy to be in the Sunshine State and ready for the busy week ahead filled with both business and play. Freshman fullback Dimitri Flowers outlined what he is most looking forward to for the week.

“I'm just excited about all the memories we get to make with our teammates,” said Flowers. “We are playing a great team in Clemson, we get to go to Universal Studios. I've never been to Disney World, so that will be fun. I'm just excited to have a great time and hopefully get a win.”

Sophomore quarterback Trevor Knight echoed Flowers' sentiment and is excited for what the week has in store.

“It's awesome to be here in Florida,” said Knight. “It's bowl season, it's the best time of the year. We are excited to have a little fun and get to work and play a really good Clemson team.”

Oklahoma Heads to Universal Studios

Shortly after stepping off the plane and checking into the hotel, the Sooners will turn around and head to Universal Studios for the evening. Players will have the chance to ride roller coasters and thrill rides while taking in the sights and sounds of the famous amusement park.

“The plan for today is we are going to head over to Universal Studios I think, which is a treat,” said Knight. “We are going to have a lot of fun doing that.”

The Weather for the Week

The climate was noticeably warmer and more humid upon arrival in Orlando, as the Sooners were met with temperatures in the low 80s on Tuesday afternoon. The forecast has temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s for the majority of the week with showers occurring periodically.

Flowers acknowledged the warmer weather as soon as he arrived in the Sunshine State and instantly reassessed his wardrobe that he packed for the trip.

“It's great to be in Florida. I stepped off the plane and it was so humid, I brought clothes for Texas weather, which is kind of cold. I started sweating immediately.”

Up Next

The Crimson and Cream hits the practice field for the first time in Florida on Christmas Eve, with a two-hour session planned in the early afternoon after position meeting prior to practice. After returning to the hotel, the Sooners will travel down the road to Disney World and explore the Magical Kingdom for the remainder of the evening.
