Oklahoma vs. Washington
Dec. 20, 2014
• No. 15 Oklahoma rallied from a 20-point deficit and had its potential game-winning jumper by Jordan Woodard bounce on the rim three times before falling off in the final seconds of a 69-67 loss to No. 16 Washington in the MGM Grand Showcase in Las Vegas, Nevada.
• The Sooners fell behind 37-17 with five minutes remaining in the first half before ending the period on a 10-3 run to trail 40-27 at the break. OU started the second half with a 19-11 spurt to cut the deficit to five (51-46) with 13:15 to go before Washington answered with five straight points to go back up 10.
• Down 66-64 with about three minutes left, the Sooners missed four shots on one possession that would have tied the game or given them the lead. Washington scored on its next trip with 2:00 to go. A TaShawn Thomas free throw and a jumper cut the margin to one, and Woodard's shot in the final five seconds was off the mark.
• Junior guards Buddy Hield and Isaiah Cousins paced the Sooners with 17 points apiece. Each player scored 11 in the second half. Cousins was 5 for 5 from the field after halftime while Hield was 3 for 6 from behind the 3-point line after intermission.
• Post players Ryan Spangler and Thomas each tallied 11 points for OU, with Spangler also pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year (second consecutive).
• The Sooners lost despite committing just eight turnovers (second lowest total of season). OU outscored Washington 16-11 off turnovers (the Huskies committed 14).
• Woodard finished with seven points and five assists against just one turnover. Over the last three games, the sophomore has 22 assists and four turnovers.
• Washington shot .490 from the field, the best mark by an OU opponent on the year. The Sooners shot .422, the second best figure by a Washington opponent.
• OU is back in action Monday at 7 p.m. CT when it hosts Weber State at Lloyd Noble Center. Weber State was an NCAA Tournament participant last year.
