Perine Named FWAA All-America Second Team

NORMAN, Okla. – Freshman running back Samaje Perine has been named to the Football Writers of America All-America Second Team, it was announced Wednesday.

Prior to Wednesday's announcement, Perine earned AP All-America Third Team recognition, All-Big 12 First Team honors from both AP and the conference's coaches. The true freshman was also voted the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year.

Perine set the FBS single-game record with 427 rushing yards against Kansas on Nov. 22. He leads all FBS freshmen and ranks eighth overall in the nation by averaging 131.6 rushing yards per game. His 1,579 rushing yards rank as the seventh-best single season total in OU annals. The prep standout from Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville, Texas, is one of five finalists for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.
