Spring Tournament | April 4, 2012 |
The University of Oklahoma volleyball team hosts its annual spring tournament this Saturday, April 7. All matches are played at the Howard McCasland Field House and admission is free. The Sooners face Tulsa at 11 a.m. CT and Wichita State at 3 p.m. CT. Tulsa and Wichita State play each other at 1 p.m. CT.

That's all from us tonight. Oklahoma has returned to its locker room to change into its match uniforms. The shared court period for the teams has ended, 19 minutes before first serve. Tulsa has the court first and the two teams will alternate for the remainder of the pregame warmup time.

Senior Carlee Roethlisberger just met with the team captains from Tulsa and tonight's officials to determine who will serve first tonight.

OU sophomore middle blocker Sallie McLaurin has 132 block assists, and Oklahoma single season record for the 25-point rally scoring era. She's chasing Eliane Santos on the list of top performers, who has 137 (2006).

Oklahoma is making its eighth appearance in the NCAA Championship, its fifth trip under Santiago Restrepo in the last six years. OU went to the tournament under Restrepo in 2010, 2009, 2007 and 2006. The Sooners advanced to the third round last year and in 2006. Oklahoma previously made the field in 1997, 1988 (third round) and 1987.

The Sooners and Tulsa met in last season's second round in Norman. OU bested the Golden Hurricane in five sets to advance to the third round before falling at eventual national champion Penn State. The Sooners lead the all-time series with Tulsa, 33-1 with TU's only series win coming on Sept. 14, 2002.

The Sooners arrived at the Galen Center in record time (by LA standards). The team will spend the next 30 minutes getting dressed and taped by athletic trainer Kim Elwood. At 3:40, the players and coaches will meet for a meeting to go over tonight's game plan. Both teams should take the floor about one hour prior to the start of the match.

OU departed the team hotel for the Galen Center just before 3 p.m. PT this afternoon. Luckily for us, we didn't run into any traffic so getting to the arena was easy.
1:30 p.m. PT
OU went to eat its pregame meal 3.5 hours before its scheduled start time. After the meal, the players and staff retreated back to the hotel for a few minutes before departing to the Galen Center.
11:30 a.m. PT
The Sooners back at the hotel following practice. Players and staff have some downtime before the team walks across the street to LA Live for a pregame meal at 1:30 p.m. PT. From there, OU will go back to the hotel briefly before heading to the Galen Center for the match.

After a quick film session, the team hit the floor for a closed practice. It's Oklahoma's final time on the floor before tonight's match. One thing to note, this group of seniors have played in the Galen Center before. The Sooners came to USC in 2008 for a regular season tournament and faced the Women of Troy in a first-round match in 2009. But, this time around may be somewhat different - the court configuration is different. Since OU's been here last, the benches and courtside seats have swapped sides.

The team met in the lobby of the hotel to walk to breakfast this morning. After the power boost, the Sooners then headed to the Galen Center for their final practice before tonight's match.

It's match day! The University of Oklahoma volleyball team faces in-state rival Tulsa in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. The two teams face off tonight at 7 p.m. CT at the Galen Center in Los Angeles. No. 7 national seed Southern California is the host and faces Yale in the other opening round match at 9 p.m. CT. The winners of Friday's matches play the second-round match on Saturday, December 3 at 9 p.m. CT. Saturday's winner advances to the Honolulu Regional. What a Day! | December 1, 2011 |
The Sooners arrived in Southern California on Monday afternoon and par for the course, the day didn't end without some unexpected excitement. OU's flight from Oklahoma City left 30 minutes late, delaying the team's arrival to Los Angeles. During a quick lunch, not one but two OU players were doused with water by a waitress. Associate head coach Kelly Files was all over it.

A&M Time Moved Up | November 17, 2011 |
University of Oklahoma officials have announced that Saturday's volleyball match between Oklahoma and Texas A&M will begin at 5 p.m. CT. The match has been moved up to accommodate the Oklahoma/Baylor football game at 7 p.m. CT. A webcast and GameTracker of the volleyball match are available online.

Time Changes Announced | October 11, 2011 |
The University of Oklahoma's volleyball match against Kansas scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 15 p.m. CT has been moved to a 5 p.m. CT start. The VolleyRun for children ages 5-13 has been canceled as a result.
Also announced was OU's Oct. 22 match time. Since the Oklahoma/Texas Tech football game begins at 7 p.m. CT, the Sooners' match against Kansas State begins at 2 p.m. CT at McCasland Field House. Admission on Oct. 22 is free on fan appreciation day.

Weekend Preview | August 31, 2011 |
Oklahoma held its final practice for the week in Norman Wednesday. The team departs Thursday afternoon for Denton, Texas and the North Texas Invitational this weekend. OU is scheduled to face Cincinnati, North Texas and Sam Houston State. Seniors Brianne Barker and Suzy Boulavsky preview the tournament.

Final Preseason Practice | August 18, 2011 |
Oklahoma hit the floor for a final practice on Thursday afternoon. The Sooners conclude preseason preparation with the Crimson and Cream scrimmage Saturday at noon at the Houston Huffman Center on campus. The scrimmage is free and open to the public. Fans should enter the facility at the southeast ramp. Parking is available in the MP1 lot located along the east side of Jenkins Avenue. The event will provide Sooner fans the first opportunity to watch the 2011 squad under the direction of head coach Santiago Restrepo. Oklahoma opens the season Aug. 26-27 with the Nike Invitational.

Community Visit | August 18, 2011 |
Following the morning practice on Thursday, the Sooners loaded up to visit the Norman Raising Cane's restaurant. While there, the team met fans, handed out posters, signed autographs and distributed buttons.

Busy Day for Sooners | August 16, 2011 |
Instead of hitting the court on Tuesday, the Sooners kept busy with a variety of activities. Oklahoma met with the media before taking part in the team's annual picture day. Oklahoma hit the floor for the first time on Tuesday and SoonerSports.com caught up with the Sooners after their first practice on Wednesday morning. The team was back on the floor for an afternoon session on Wednesday. The Sooners open the 2011 season Aug. 26-27 with the Nike Invitational.

The OU football team wasn't the only Sooner athletic team meeting and greeting the fans on Saturday at Oklahoma Gaylord Family Stadium. The 2011 Sooner volleyball team also braved the summer heat and signed autographs for the fans.

Norman PD Visit | August 3, 2011 |
The coaching staff and select players visited the Norman Police Department on Wednesday afternoon. The team sat in on the afternoon shift's daily breifing and got a tour of the facility, including the 911 dispatch room. The team also got to meet and greet with officers (and one of the department's three K9 dogs).

The 2011 senior class hit the court Monday for the photo shoot for the 2011 volleyball poster. Seniors Brianne Barker, Suzy Boulavsky, Kylie Cowan and Caitlin Higgins worked with Director of Graphic Design Scott Matthews, photographer Robert Miller and Assistant Director of Marketing Jamaal Walton to capture the images. Sooners in China | June 13, 2011 |
University of Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo, senior setter Brianne Barker and sophomore middle blocker Sallie McLaurin are currently in China partcipating in the BIP/USA to China, Challenge Invitational. BIP has put together two teams of top level collegiate players in conjunction with USA Volleyball. Prior to leaving, the teams trainedn at the Anaheim Sports Center (ASC) in Anaheim, Calif. on June 7-8 before flying to Beijing on June 9 for a 10-night tour of China. Barker Named to All-Tournament Team | June 6, 2011 |
University of Oklahoma senior setter Brianne Barker was named to the USA Volleyball Open National Championships all-tournament team last week after helping the United States A2 blue team win a national title in Dallas.
Barker, an 2010 All-American, scored six points, including three aces and a kill, in the 26-24 title-clinching game against the A2 red team.

Sooners Close Out Spring Schedule | April 20, 2011 |
The University of Oklahoma volleyball team concludes its spring practice season Saturday with two matches against Wichita State. The Sooners and Shockers play a best-of-three-series at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Houston Huffman Center on the OU campus. Spectators are asked to enter at the southeast corner of the facility.
