Feb. 27, 2012 | Sooners in the Rankings

The newest NCAA women's gymnastics rankings were released Monday using the Regional Qualifying Score of each team and individual.  Oklahoma remained at No. 2, just .050 behind No. 1 Florida with a 197.145 RQS.

With the new team rankings, came new event rankings as well.  Oklahoma is the No. 1 team on both beam and floor, while senior Sara Stone is No. 1 on vault and senior Megan Ferguson is No. 1 on beam.

Ferguson is also ranked No. 2 on floor and No. 3 on bars in the new rankings.  Ferguson and Stone have won a combined 21 of the last 24 event titles and have scored a 9.9 or higher 24 times this season.

The Sooners will play host to the reigning national champion, No. 5 Alabama, Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m., at the Lloyd Noble Center for Senior Night.  Fans can see Ferguson, Stone and the rest of the Sooners in action against the Crimson Tide.

The first 1,500 fans at Friday's meet will receive a free t-shirt, courtesy of the OU IT Store.  Come support your Sooners!

 Feb. 13, 2012 | RQS Looming

Starting Feb. 27, NCAA rankings for women's gymnastics will be based on the teams' Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) instead of Total Season Average. RQSs are calculated by using each team's six best scores, three of which must be on the road. Each team's high-score is thrown out and the remaining five scores are averaged. Currently, OU holds the highest RQS out of the 80-plus teams in the NCAA with a score of 196.710.

RQS is used to determine seeds and locations for NCAA Regionals on April 7.  The six hosts for the 2012 NCAA Regionals are Arkansas, Auburn, Illinois, N.C. State, Utah and Washington.  The top two teams from each regional will advance to the 2012 NCAA Championships, April 20-22 in Duluth, Ga., where the top three teams from each semifinal will compete in the NCAA Super Six for the 2012 national championship.

 Feb. 6, 2012 | Perfect 10 Challenge

The fifth-ranked Oklahoma women's gymnastics team will compete in the Perfect 10 Challenge hosted by Bart Conner Gymnastics, Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m., at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., alongside Iowa State and Southeast Missouri State.
