MANHATTAN, Kan. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to Kansas State on Sunday evening by narrow scores of 22-25, 27-29 and 22-25. The No. 25 Sooners fell to 18-6 overall and 6-4 in the Big 12, while the Wildcats improved to 15-7 and 3-6.
K-State's Kaitlyn Pelger led all players with 17 kills and a .481 hitting percentage. Courtney Traxson chipped in with 13 kills on a .391 attack rate.
For Oklahoma, senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) led the attack with 13 kills and a .423 hitting percentage. She also added a match-high nine blocks on one solo and eight assists for her second highest total of the season.
Senior outside hitter Keila Rodriguez (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) and sophomore outside hitter Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas) each added 11 kills. Rodriguez recorded her second straight and team-leading 10th double-double of the season by contributing a match-leading 11 digs.
Katie Brand dished out 38 assists and picked up a team-high eight digs for the Wildcats, while sophomore setter Julia Doyle (Plymouth, Minn.) collected 34 assists for the Sooners.
Oklahoma returns to action Saturday, November 9 at Iowa State for a 5:00 pm match.
