Sooners in the NFL Week Eight - 9:19 p.m.
Oklahoma's standout professional football players continued to shine in the National Football League this past weekend.

RB Adrian Peterson carried 15 times for 123 yards and a touchdown to go with one reception for four yards in Minnesota's 36-17 loss to Tampa Bay. OT Phil Loadholt started for the eighth time for the Vikings and had a tackle, while DT Gerald McCoy had a tackle for the Bucs.

WR Ryan Broyles hauled in three receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown on Sunday, in a 28-24 win over Seattle, while fellow rookie LB Travis Lewis recorded his first career tackle.

LB Curtis Lofton recorded seven tackles, including one for loss, and a pass defended while PK Garrett Hartley booted in two extra points in New Orleans' 34-14 loss to Denver.

QB Sam Bradford completed 22-of-30 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown in a 45-7 loss to New England.

DE Frank Alexander notched a tackle in Carolina's 23-22 loss to Chicago.

CB Jamell Fleming notched a tackle in Arizona's 24-3 loss to San Fransisco on Monday Night Football.

OT Donald Stephenson saw action in Kansas City's 26-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

OG Chris Chester and OT Trent Williams each started for the eighth consecutive game but Washington lost, 27-12, to the Pittsburgh Steelers
 
  Monday, October 29

OU returns to Big 12 Conference play against the Iowa State Cyclones next Saturday in Ames. The game kicks at 11 a.m. and will be televised by ABC. Baylor Game Time TBD - 3:19 p.m.
The Big 12 announced it will be using the third six-day pick of the 2012 season for games on Nov. 10, meaning Oklahoma's home game vs. Baylor will be announced on Saturday night or Sunday morning. Upon receipt, the selection will be announced immediately on our main Twitter feed (@SoonerSportscom).
 
Jefferson a Thorpe Semifinalist - 1:30 p.m.
Junior safety Tony Jefferson has been named one of 15 semifinalists for the 2012 Jim Thorpe Award, given to the top defensive back in college football. The three finalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 19. The Chula Vista, Calif., native leads the Sooners with 59 tackles, including a team-high 36 solo stops. Jefferson has registered double-digit tackles in four games this season, including a team-high 11 tackles against Notre Dame and a career-best 14 stops against Kansas State.
 
Jefferson was a member of the 2012 Jim Thorpe Preseason Watch List released this past summer after garnering All-Big 12 honorable mention accolades in 2011. He was also named to the Bednarik, Camp and Nagurski Award watch lists. Jefferson garnered Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week honors on Oct. 17 after recording a team-high seven tackles and an interception for Oklahoma in its 63-21 win over Texas.

  Saturday, October 27

The Big 12 Conference announced on Saturday that the football game between the University of Oklahoma and Iowa State University on Nov. 3 is slated to kick off at 11 a.m. CT. The game will be broadcast by ABC. The Sooners have won 20 consecutive games against the Cyclones in Ames.

Sooners in the NFL Week Seven - 9:04 a.m.
RB Adrian Peterson carried 23 times for 153 yards (6.7 ypc) and a touchdown to go with two receptions for six yards in Minnesota's 21-14 win over Arizona. OT Phil Loadholt started for the seventh time for the Vikings, while DB Jamell Fleming recorded a tackle for the Cardinals.

WR Ryan Broyles hauled in his first three career NFL receptions for 51 yards and his first touchdown on Monday night, in a 13-7 loss to Chicago.

LB Curtis Lofton recorded five tackles, including one for loss, while PK Garrett Hartley booted in five extra points in New Orleans' 35-28 win over Tampa Bay. DT Gerald McCoy had three tackles and a pass defended for the Bucs.

QB Sam Bradford completed 21-of-34 passes for 255 yards and a touchdown in St. Louis' 30-20 loss to Green Bay.

TE Jermaine Gresham hauled in three receptions for 19 yards in Cincinnati's 24-17 loss to Pittsburgh.

LB Keenan Clayton recorded his first two tackles of the season in Oakland's 26-23 OT win over Jacksonville.

OG Chris Chester and OT Trent Williams each started for the seventh consecutive game but Washington lost, 27-23, to the New York Giants.

Notre Dame week is officially here, kicking off with Monday's weekly press conference, featuring head coach Bob Stoops, quarterback Landry Jones, center Gabe Ikard, wide receiver Justin Brown and defensive end David King. Jones Named O'Brien Award Semifinalist - 2:58 p.m.
Quarterback Landry Jones is one of 16 NCAA FBS quarterbacks selected as a semifinalist for the 2012 Davey O'Brien Award, presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback.
 
Fans may now help determine which three quarterbacks will advance as finalists by voting as often as once daily at www.VoteOBrien.org. Fan voting will close at noon (CT) on Nov. 18.
 
The three Davey O'Brien finalists will be announced on Monday, Nov. 19 and the winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards airing Thursday, Dec. 6, on ESPN.

Iowa State Kickoff Time a Six-Day Pick - 1:19 p.m.
The Big 12 TV partners have notified the conference they will be using the second six-day pick of the 2012 season for games on Nov. 3, meaning Oklahoma's game at Iowa State will be announced on Saturday night or Sunday morning. Possible slots for the game are 11 a.m., 2:30 or 7 p.m. on ABC or a 2 p.m. kickoff on FOX. Upon receipt, the selection will be announced immediately on our main Twitter platform (@SoonerSportscom).

The Norman Police Department will no longer permit parking on Brooks Street between Jenkins Ave. and Classen Blvd. on OU football game days. This area will remain clear to help ease postgame traffic congestion. Any vehicles parked in this location on game day will be towed. Jones a Senior CLASS Award Finalist - 9:35 a.m.
University of Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones is one of 10 NCAA FBS student-athletes selected as finalists for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate football. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I FBS senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.

Fans are encouraged to vote at seniorCLASSaward.com through Dec. 3. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to select the recipient. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2012-13 bowl season. To view the other candidates, click here.

As if Damien Williams hasn't already grabbed your attention, he's on Travis Haney's (ESPN Insider) "Second-Half Breakout Players," list as he's "well on his way to second-half stardom."
 
Jefferson Named Thorpe DB of the Week - 11:55 p.m.
After recording a team-high seven tackles and an interception in Oklahoma's 63-21 win over Texas, junior safety Tony Jefferson has been named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week.

Jefferson also added a team-high two tackles for loss and was one of the defenders in on an safety that extended the OU lead to 29-2 in the second quarter.

Jefferson was a member of the 2012 Jim Thorpe Preseason Watch List released this past summer after garnering All-Big 12 honorable mention accolades in 2011. The Thorpe Award winner is selected from three finalists and will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 6, 2012, on ESPN.

TE Jermaine Gresham caught three passes for 68 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown in a 34-24 loss to Cleveland.

DB Jamell Fleming recorded six tackles in Arizona's (4-2) 19-16 overtime loss to Buffalo.

OG Chris Chester and OT Trent Williams each started for the sixth consecutive time on Washington's offensive line, as Washington (3-3) defeated Minnesota (4-2). RB Adrian Peterson carried 17 times for 79 yards and caught seven passes for 50 yards, while OT Phil Loadholt started for the sixth time.

QB Sam Bradford completed 26-of-39 passes for 315 yards, but St. Louis (3-3) fell, 17-14, to Miami.

RB DeMarco Murray ran 14 times for 93 yards and caught a 4-yard pass, but Dallas lost, 31-29, to Baltimore.

DE Ronnell Lewis registered a tackle in Detroit's 26-23 overtime win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

DT Gerald McCoy had a tackle in Tampa Bay's 38-10 win over Kansas City, as OT Donald Stephenson saw action for the Chiefs.
 
Limited Tickets Available for Kansas Game - 8:57 a.m.
The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department announced on Tuesday that it has received a limited number of returned tickets from Kansas for Saturday's Big 12 Conference game. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Oct. 20.

No. 9 Oklahoma's home game vs. No. 5 Notre Dame on Saturday, Oct. 27, will kick off at 7 p.m. CT and be televised nationally on ABC, the Big 12 Conference announced on Monday morning. OU hosts Kansas on Saturday, Oct. 20, while Notre Dame is home vs. BYU.

Saunders Cleared to Play - 6:05 p.m.
Junior transfer wide receiver Jalen Saunders has officially been cleared by the NCAA and could play as soon as Saturday, head coach Bob Stoops announced following OU's practice on Wednesday, waiving the required season that transfers normally have to sit out. Two on Steele Midseason All-American Team - 2:09 p.m.
The University of Oklahoma football team placed WR Kenny Stills and S Tony Jefferson on Phil Steele's 2012 Midseason All-American Team. Stills was selected to the third team, while Jefferson was a fourth-team selection.
 
Stills ranks fourth in the Big 12 and 14th in the nation with 7.2 receptions per game and ranks fifth in the Big 12 at 86.0 receiving yards per game, while Jefferson leads the Sooners with 30 total tackles (20 solo) this season.

LB Curtis Lofton now leads the NFL with 54 tackles after a 10-tackle performance, including a sack, as New Orleans got its first win, 31-24, over San Diego. PK Garrett Hartley nailed a 26-yard FG and all four of his extra points in the win.

RB Adrian Peterson carried 17 times for 88 yards and caught three passes for 15 yards in Minnesota's 30-7 win over Tennessee. OT Phil Loadholt started for the fifth time in as many games.

TE Jermaine Gresham hauled in five catches for 60 yards, second in both categories for Cincinnati, which lost, 17-13, to Miami. Gresham is tied for fifth among NFL tight ends with 22 catches.

The Heart of Dallas Bowl, previously referred to as the TicketCity Bowl, will be held at Cotton Bowl Stadium on Jan. 1, 2013. The bowl will be revamped to provide new avenues for engagement to positively impact the Dallas community.

The Heart of Dallas Bowl will be presented by PlainsCapital Bank, with additional support from MetroPCS, Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau, Omni Hotels and Hyatt. The game will be shown live on ESPNU, with kickoff set for 11 a.m. CST. The match-ups have been set through 2014, with a team from the Big 12 Conference to face off against the Big Ten in 2013, while the Big Ten will meet a Conference USA team in 2014.

Sooners in the NFL Week Four - 9:16 a.m.
While OU was off last weekend, the Sooners in the National Football League were not. Here's a complete wrap-up from week four:
 
DE Frank Alexander recorded two tackles, including 1.5 sacks in Carolina's 30-28 loss at Atlanta. He ranks second among rookies with 2.5 sacks in 2012.

TE Jermaine Gresham was second on Cincinnati in receiving with five catches for 47 yards in the Bengals' 27-10 win at Jacksonville.

RB Adrian Peterson posted two season highs, rushing for 102 yards and catching four passes for 20 yards in Minnesota's 20-13 win at Detroit. OT Phil Loadholt started for the fourth consecutive game for the Vikings.

LB Curtis Lofton is tied for second in the league with 44 tackles after a 12-stop performance in New Orleans' 28-27 loss to Green Bay. PK Garrett Hartley connected on 2-of-3 field goals and added three XPs.

RB DeMarco Murray registered career-highs of six receptions for 57 yards, and added 24 yards rushing in Dallas' 34-18 loss to Chicago.


QB Sam Bradford completed 16-of-30 passes for 221 yards, while leading St. Louis to a 19-13 win over Seattle.

DB Jamell Fleming recorded three tackles as Arizona remained undefeated (4-0), topping Miami, 24-21.

OG Chris Chester and OT Trent Williams each started in Washington's 24-22 win over Tampa Bay. DT Gerald McCoy had three tackles, including a TFL, for the Bucs.

OT Donald Stephenson saw action in Kansas City's 37-20 loss to San Diego.

OU-Texas Set for 11 a.m. Kickoff on ABC - 10:06 a.m.
The Big 12 Conference announced on Monday that the AT&T Red River Rivalry game between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas on Oct. 13 is slated to kick off at 11 a.m. CT. The game will be broadcast to a national audience by ABC.
 
This year's contest will mark the 107th renewal of this storied series as Oklahoma and Texas meet in Dallas for the 91st time overall and the 84th time in a row. Oklahoma has won the last two games in this rivalry. Oklahoma travels to Texas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 6, while up next for Texas is a home date vs. West Virginia.
