Sooners Drop Bedlam in Stillwater, 66-63

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State's Jenni Bryan put the exclamation point on a 10-0 run that stunned Oklahoma and gave the Cowgirls a 66-63 victory at Gallagher-Iba Arena Saturday.
Bryan's game-winning 3 with 28 seconds remaining put the punctuation mark in the first round of the women's basketball Bedlam series.
It broke an eight-game winning streak by the Sooners in the series and kept OU winless on the road in Big 12 play.
The game was the first matchup of the two teams since Oklahoma State head coach Kurt Budke and assistant Miranda Serna were among four who perished in a Nov. 11 plane crash in Arkansas while on a recruiting trip.
Joanna McFarland had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and seemingly made shots at will with a 4-for-5 3-point performance in the first half, but took just two shots in the second half as Oklahoma's offense stalled.
Oklahoma (10-5, 2-2 Big 12) led nearly all of the game and was up 7 after DaShawn Harden's free throws gave the Sooners a 63-56 lead with 2 ½ minutes to play.
But Bryan was fouled rebounding a long 3-point miss by Lindsay Keller and made two free throws, then Tiffany Bias picked DaShawn Harden in the backcourt and was sent to the line for another pair of free throws, closing the gap to 3 with just 17 seconds coming off the clock.
The Sooners tried to slow the pace on offense, but missed their final three field goals, allowing the Cowgirls to push in transition. Bias scored coast-to-coast on a layup and then found a wide open Bryan for 3 on Oklahoma State's next possession to take its first lead since leading briefly at 8-7 early in the game.
Aaryn Ellenberg, who had 12 points, turned over the ball in traffic while driving to the rim, allowing another trip to the line for Oklahoma State. Donohoe made her first to make it a 3-point lead for the Cowgirls. McFarland rebounded the miss on the second and moved the ball upcourt in time for a final play, but Morgan Hook's 3-point attempt was blocked by Donohoe as time expired.
Whitney Hand added 14 points and Nicole Griffin had 9 for the Sooners.
Oklahoma led 28-23 at halftime and increased its margin to 11 over the next seven minutes. But the Sooners would connect on only four of its final 19 shots.
Oklahoma immediately faces another conference road challenge, visiting Kansas State Tuesday night in Manhattan, Kan.
