NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team was selected to finish second in the Big 12 Conference this year in a vote by the league's coaches the conference office announced today. The Sooners tied Iowa State with 53 points. Texas garnered 63 points to finish first.
Texas A&M and Missouri placed fourth and fifth, respectively, while Baylor came in sixth. Kansas, Kansas State and Texas Tech rounded out the final three spots.
Oklahoma returns 10 letterwinners from last season's 23-11 team that finished third in the Big 12 (13-7) and advanced to the NCAA Championship third round. The Sooners return five position starters and libero and welcome five newcomers.
On Tuesday, seniors Brianne Barker (Amarillo, Texas) and Suzy Boulavsky (Houston, Texas) and sophomore Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team.
