OU Picked to Repeat as Big 12 Champs

IRVING, Texas -- Oklahoma was selected to repeat as Big 12 champion in the 2011 Big 12 Football Preseason Poll, voted on by media representatives who cover the conference.
The Sooners received 41 first-place votes and totaled 428 points. A narrow gap of two points separated the next two positions as Texas A&M finished in second with one first-place vote and 362 points. Oklahoma State was picked third, also garnering a first-place vote and registering 360 points.
OU, OSU and Texas A&M tied for the South division title in 2010 - the final season of division standings. The Sooners defeated Nebraska for the conference championship.
Missouri (281 points) and Texas (265 points) rounded out the top five of the preseason poll. The Tigers tied for the North division title last season.
Oklahoma leads the Big 12 with seven Conference championships (2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2004, 2002 and 2000). The Sooners were picked first in the South division nine times in previous media preseason polls and finished the season at the top in six of those years.
