NORMAN, Okla. - The 10th-ranked University of Oklahoma softball team won the 2011 Oklahoma Spring Festival Sunday afternoon with a pair of wins over Missouri State. OU (22-5) won 1-0 in the first game on a home run by Jessica Shults and took the championship game in a 9-1 six-inning run rule.

Oklahoma 9, Missouri State 1
Haley Nix capped off an impressive weekend with a walk-off grand slam to force the run rule in the bottom of the sixth. Nix also recorded an RBI in the third which scored Ali Vandever for OU's first run of the game.

OU stretched the lead to 5-1 after four innings. Shults led off the inning with her second home run of the day, her 15th of the season. Brittany Williams walked and Dani Dobbs took advantage of a Missouri State miscue as pinch runner Brianna Turang scored on a dropped fly ball to right field. Dobbs scored from second on a Cierra Hughes single up the middle and Hughes later scored on a Destinee Martinez chopper down the left field line.

Hughes led off the sixth with a single to the pitcher and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Pinch hitter Kaci Quintero drew a walk and Martinez re-entered to run. Hughes and Martinez advanced on a wild pitch and Chana'e Jones walked to load the bases for Nix.

Nix ended the game with a blast to center field on the first pitch of the at-bat. It was her second career grand slam and second this season.

Natalie Rose (4-6) started her second consecutive game of the day, pitching 3.1 innings in the loss. Rose was responsible for four runs on three hits and three walks.

Michelle Gascoigne (5-3) gave up a first inning home run to Stevie Pierce and settled down to retire seven batters via the strikeout. It was her second complete game of the year as she allowed just three hits to the Bears.

Oklahoma 1, Missouri State 0
Shults' fourth-inning home run was the only run of the game and came on an 0-2 count. Keilani Ricketts threw her sixth straight complete game shutout. Ricketts allowed five hits and two walks, while striking out 12.

Rose picked up the loss for Missouri State, pitching a complete game and allowing the one earned run on three hits. Rose struck out nine.

Oklahoma travels to Fullerton, Calif., for the Judi Garman Classic. The Sooners open play Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. CT against Notre Dame. Live stats of all games are available at SoonerSports.com.
