Postgame Notes

February 05, 2011 | Men's Basketball

Feb. 5, 2011

• Oklahoma jumped out to a 21-6 lead and was up 47-39 early in the second half but couldn't overcome Oklahoma State's 36-for-44 free throw performance in an 81-75 loss in Stillwater.

• The Cowboys registered season highs of 36 free throw makes and attempts.  The 44 attempts were the most by any team in Big 12 play this year.

• The OSU threesome of Keiton Page (11-for-12), Jean-Paul Olukemi (11-for-13) and Darrell Williams (8-for-10) combined to go 30-for-35 at the charity stripe.

• Oklahoma was even better at the free throw line from a percentage standpoint with its 24-for-26 (season-high .923) effort.

• Sophomore forward Andrew Fitzgerald and senior guard Cade Davis led OU with 18 points each.  Fitzgerald had 14 by halftime and Davis 11.

• Sophomore point guard Carl Blair hit all nine of his free throw attempts and finished with 13 points, but he registered no assists and six turnovers.  He entered the game averaging 5.3 assists in Big 12 play to rank second in the league.  In OU's wins this year, Blair has 57 assists and 27 turnovers.  In OU's losses, he has 29 assists and 40 turnovers.

• After scoring 25 points against Baylor on Wednesday, freshman guard Cameron Clark was held scoreless today on 0-for-3 field goal shooting.  His 29 minutes of playing time were his fewest since Dec. 1 at Arkansas (19 minutes).

• Sophomore guard Steven Pledger, who entered the game averaging 16.2 points during OU's four-game winning streak, was forced to the bench less than two minutes into the contest with his second personal foul.  Pledger finished the game with nine points in just 23 minutes, his least playing time in nine games.

• Junior forward Barry Honoré saw his first action in six games and provided a first-half lift off the bench with his three tip-in baskets.  He finished with six points and three boards in 13 minutes (his second most playing time this season).

• Oklahoma State outrebounded OU 38-28 and pulled down 15 offensive boards that led to 19 second-chance points.  The Sooners converted 10 offensive rebounds into 17 points.

• OU lost despite committing just 10 turnovers (tied for its second fewest of the season).  The Sooners are averaging just 11.3 turnovers the last three games.

• The Sooners held the Cowboys to .431 field goal shooting, including a 1-for-14 mark from 3-point range (.071).  Last year in Stillwater, the Cowboys went 14-for-28 from long distance.

• Oklahoma returns home to take on No. 3 Texas on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT.
