NORMAN, Okla. -- The baseball program will host a "Meet the Sooners" event on Wednesday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at a Sooner practice and an opportunity to purchase season tickets.

The event will run from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and will feature a meet and greet with players and coaches, autographs with the 2011 posters and schedule cards, an opportunity to be on the field during batting practice and a tour of the Sooners' clubhouse and indoor practice facility. Chick-fil-a, Frito-Lay and Coke-Cola will provide free food and drinks will also be available for the first 200 fans in attendance.

Fans will also have the first opportunity to see the new chair back seats that are currently being installed at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The traditional green colored chairs are being installed throughout the lower bowl of the stadium, adding almost 200 additional chair back seats.

Wednesday's event adds to an already action-packed day of Sooner athletics. At 4 p.m., the OU softball team will host St. Gregory's at Marita Hynes Field and later in the evening, the OU men's basketball team welcomes Nebraska to the Lloyd Noble Center for an 8 p.m. game.

"We are excited to be hosting this event on Wednesday night for our fans," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.  "We are looking forward to welcoming Sooner Nation to one of our practices and for them to see some of the changes around the facility."

It marks the second consecutive year for the event.

In 2010, OU welcomed fans to a L. Dale Mitchell Park before baseball hosted the NCAA Norman Regional. An estimated crowd of 450 fans were on hand as the OU baseball team took the field for practice on a Tuesday night. Sooner fans of all ages toured the program's facility and watched OU take batting practice on the field while enjoying free food and drink.

"I thought it was a great event. A great turnout," added Golloway.
