Broyles a Finalist for Biletnikoff Award

Broyles, Alexander on Camp All-America Teams

NORMAN, Okla. -- Ryan Broyles gave Oklahoma its 153rd All-America honor Thursday night as he was named to the Walter Camp All-America team for the second consecutive year. The organization also placed Oklahoma defensive end Frank Alexander on its second team. The team is selected in a vote of all Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors.

Broyles is the 33rd Sooner to earn first team All-America honors under head coach Bob Stoops. The Norman native is the seventh OU player under Bob Stoops to earn back-to-back All-America honors and the first since Gerald McCoy did so in 2008 and 2009.

Broyles collegiate career ended on Nov. 5 with a torn ACL vs. Texas A&M but the receiver had already made his mark on several record books. Broyles broke the NCAA career record for receptions in the season's sixth game and finished with 349 catches during his career while ending up second on the NCAA all-time career receiving yards chart with 4,586 yards, just 420 yards from the NCAA rcord in the category. Broyles also broke the Big 12 record for career receiving touchdowns with 45.

The Biletnikoff Award finalist had more than 100 yards receiving in seven of nine games this season and a touchdown in seven of nine with multiple receiving touchdowns in four games. He had four games with at least 13 receptions and broke his own record for receiving yards in a game with 217 yards at Kansas.

The Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year, Alexander led the Big 12 with 8.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss. The disruptive Sooner also broke up six passes and hauled in his first career interception vs. Tulsa. In Oklahoma's 55-17 victory over Texas, Alexander had a career-high three sacks while recovering a fumble and forcing another fumble that was returned for a touchdown. He was named the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.
