LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Freshman Sharane Campbell scored a career-high 19 points to lead Oklahoma's 89-57 win over Ohio in the Duel in the Desert at UNLV's COX Pavilion.

Campbell was flawless in the first half, hitting six field goals and two free throws for 14 points, eclipsing her previous career high of 13, to help the Sooners build a cushion and cruise to an easy victory Sunday.

"Sharane's a fantastic athlete and she's very, very versatile," OU head coach Sherri Coale said. "I thought it was great for her to be able score in a bevy of ways. She's getting more confident and, ironically for Sharane, when she's playing well defensively, that's what's spurs her on offense."

Oklahoma rushed to a 10-1 lead before Ohio was able to connect on a field goal and never look back.

It was OU's highest offensive output since its season opener as four Sooners scored in double figures. Morgan Hook and Joanna McFarland had 14.

Jelena Cerina scored 10 with eight coming consecutively in the second half as part of a 10-0 spurt the Sooners used to finally finish the Bobcats after they had closed to 65-46 with just under 9 minutes to play.

"I thought our guys focused very well on the way we had to defend Ohio. We took away their driving lanes and my only complaint with it all would be that we fouled a little too much."

Oklahoma clogged the lane, allowing only 18 points in the paint, and used the height advantage provided by its 6-foot-5 and 6-6 centers to collect 18 more rebounds than Ohio.

Five Sooners – Campbell, Cerina, Hook, McFarland and Kaylon Williams – totaled season highs in scoring.

The Sooners will play Syracuse, a 70-67 winner over Xavier, Monday at 4:30 p.m. Central.
