Sooners Host Cyclones in Home Finale

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma looks to rebound from its second loss of the season as it hosts Iowa State in its final home game of the season Saturday. OU fell for the first time ever to Baylor, 45-38, as the Bears scored the winning touchdown with eight seconds on the clock.
The Sooners have only lost back-to-back regular-season games once under Bob Stoops, in the fourth and fifth games of Stoops' first season at the helm in 1999.

THE SERIES
Oklahoma leads the series with Iowa State, 68-5-2, including a 35-3-1 mark in Norman. The Sooners have outscored the Cyclones 135-6 in three home games vs. Iowa State under Bob Stoops.
THE COACHES
Oklahoma: Bob Stoops (Iowa `83) is 137-33 in his 13th season. He is 90-21 vs. the Big 12 including a 7-1 record in the Big 12 title game, 47-12 vs. non-conference opponents, 76-3 at home, 38-17 on the road and 23-13 on neutral fields. Stoops is 6-0 against Iowa State.

OPPONENT: IOWA STATE
Iowa State is coming off its biggest win in program history having defeated then-No. 2 Oklahoma State, 37-31, in double overtime. They Cyclones entered the game with a record of 0-56-2 against teams ranked sixth or higher in the AP poll.
ISU trailed 24-7 in the third quarter, and outscored Oklahoma State 30-7 over the final 27:33 of regulation and the overtime sessions.
ISU has beaten two ranked opponents in the same season for the first time since 2005.
TIES: IOWA STATE
Oklahoma freshman offensive lineman Derek Farniok's older brother, Tom, a redshirt-freshman, is the Cyclones' starting center.
Iowa State's roster boasts three Oklahomans.
Iowa State running backs coach Kenith Pope lettered for the Sooners as a defensive back from 1971-73 before joining the Sooners' coaching staff from 1995-97.
Iowa State tight ends coach Luke Wells graduated from Oklahoma and was a student assistant from 1999-2001.
LAST WEEK
Oklahoma fell to Baylor for the first time in 21 games as the Bears scored with eight seconds remaining to top the Sooners 45-38.
The OU offense had more than 600 yards of total offense (605) for the fifth time this season and the third time on the road.
The Oklahoma defense had 10 tackles for loss and now have at least eight tackles for loss in six straight games.
Redshirt-freshman quarterback Blake Bell rushed for four touchdowns, just the second Oklahoma QB to do so.
Landry Jones threw for 447 yards, the fifth time he has eclipsed 400 yards this season and the ninth in his career.
Jones completed passes to 10 different receivers on Saturday, each with multiple receptions.
Roy Finch finished the game with 95 rushing yards, the second most in his career behind the 99 in the last game against Texas A&M. Finch had 93 yards against Kansas State in the game prior to the win over the Aggies.

Oklahoma is playing its second home day game of the season and only its fourth day game in 2011. In its previous three, the Sooners knocked off a pair of unbeatens, Texas and Kansas State, along with Texas A&M by an average score of 51.3 to 19.7. OU suffered its two losses of the season at night.

LB Austin Box passed away in May. The Enid native would have been a senior on this team. To honor his memory, the Sooners keep his locker intact, leave a space for him during stretching drills and wear a helmet decal. In addition, a designated defensive player wears Box's No. 12 in each game. That assignment is made each Friday. Landry Jones wears No. 12 on offense.

Oklahoma is the highest scoring college program in history. In 1,223 games, the Sooners have scored 31,745 points. Michigan is next at 30,640 points in 1,269 games.

KEEPING UP WITH JONES
This season, QB Landry Jones has moved from No. 3 to No. 1 on the school's career passing yards list. He jumped over a pair of Heisman winners to claim the spot.
At Kansas State, Jones set a school record for passing yards in a game at 505. He broke a mark that he previously held jointly with Sam Bradford.
Also at KSU, he surpassed Bradford's record for career touchdown passes. He now has 92.
Among active players, Jones is No. 2 in career passing yards/game (325.3), No. 3 in completions (956), No. 4 in yards (11,712), No. 4 in TD passes (92), No. 6 in total offense (11,492) and No. 6 in TDs responsible for (95).
Has a completion rate of 60% in every game but two this season and has been over 350 yards in all but two.
He has 1,619 yards and 12 TDs over the last four games.
Jones holds OU records with 21, career 300-yard games and nine, 400-yard games.
THE RECORD BOOK BROYLES
Ryan Broyles, lost for the year with a torn ACL, is the NCAA's career leader in receptions and the Big 12 leader for career receptions and career touchdown receptions ...Broyles set the NCAA career receptions record at Kansas (2nd qtr.) on a 57-yard touchdown catch. On that same play, he set the Big 12 record for career TD catches.
At Kansas State, he surpassed Rashaun Woods as the Big 12's career leader in receiving yards.
He also is the NCAA career leader among active players in receptions (349), TD receptions (45), receiving yards (4,586) and punt return yards (1,194).
With 45 career TD catches, he is No. 4 on the NCAA list behind and has the highest total by any player at a BCS school.
He is No. 2 for NCAA in career receiving yards behind Nevada's Trevor Insley (5,005), and already surpasses all BCS players.
Had 100+ yards receiving in 19 of his final 26 games and a TD grab in 17 of the final 25.
THERE'S A TREY
Oklahoma FB Trey Millard busted off a 61-yard TD romp at Kansas State. It was the longest run by a Sooner FB since 1986, when Lydell Carr went for 61 yards vs. Iowa State.
NOW THAT'S A RECEIVING CORPS
Oklahoma has 10 different players with at least 10 receptions and an average of more than 10.0 yards per catch ...
Fourteen different Sooners have a reception this season. That's the total number that had catches over last year's 14-game schedule. Thirteen have at least five grabs.
Kenny Stills has three, 100-yard receiving games this season and averages a touchdown every 5.9 receptions.
After posting no catches in the first two games, Jaz Reynolds, who is up 30 pounds since his arrival on campus, now has 39 for 692 yards and five TDs. He has 20 catches for 329 yards and four touchdowns over the past four games. His 17.7 yards per catch average leads the team.
OU's tight ends had their best day of the season at Baylor when James Hanna and Trent Ratterree combined for seven catches for 116 yards.
RAPID ROY
With Dominique Whaley out for the season, much of the running back load has shifted to the diminutive Roy Finch, who has more than responded ...
Already, he's No. 4 on the team, No. 1 among running backs, in receptions with 26. Ten of those 26 grabs have resulted in a Sooner first down.
His 5.6 yards per carry average is 0.1 ahead of Whaley's, though it should be noted that Whaley has 32 more attempts.
WHALEY OUT FOR SEASON
Oklahoma's lost its leading rusher, Dominique Whaley, on the first play of the Kansas State game to a broken bone in his left ankle.
It is believed the previous record for rushing yards by a walk-on at OU was 423 yards by Jim Culbreath in 1975. Whaley finished the campaign with 627.
FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS
A 6-6, 245 lb., quarterback, redshirt-freshman Blake Bell has been inserted into the Oklahoma lineup several times this season, usually in short yardage situations.
Of Bell's 25 carries, 10 have gone for a first down while seven have gone for touchdowns, including four vs. Baylor.
Bell became just the third QB in OU history to rush for four TDs with his effort at Baylor.
AND...
The OU offensive line leads the nation with just six sacks given up this year and have only given up multiple sacks in one game this season (two at Baylor).
Along with just six sacks, OU has given up just 43 tackles for loss. The Sooners have absorbed 124 negative yards for an average of just 12.4 per game. OU opponents average 38.3 negative yards per game.
Oklahoma, somewhat a victim of its own efficiency, ranks No. 60 nationally in time of possession. With quick strikes and four defensive TDs, the Sooners had a season-low 22:06 against Texas, a deficit of 13:48. Only five times in 10 games has OU exceeded its opponent in possession time.
OU has forced at least one turnover in 148 of Stoops' 170 games and has at least one interception in 109 of the last 149 with multiple picks in 68 of the last 121 outings.
Oklahoma has 13 shutouts under its current head coach. Opponents failed to score more than seven points in 35 games and scored less than 14 in 65 games.
LEWIS ASCENDS OU TACKLE LIST
With his 429 career tackles (the second-highest total by a Bob Stoops player at OU), senior WLB Travis Lewis has cracked the career top five tackle list at OU. The record is held by the late Daryl Hunt at 530. Lewis, now at No. 5, trails No. 4 Rocky Calmus, who holds the Stoops' era record by two tackles.
His 429 career stops ranks fourth among active players nationally.
Lewis, who suffered a broken bone in the big toe of his left foot in preseason drills, missed the opener vs. Tulsa.
Lewis has led Oklahoma in tackles in each of his first three seasons and has become only the sixth player in school history to lead the team in three consecutive years. The last to do it was Rocky Calmus, the Butkus Award winner in his senior campaign, from 1999-01. No player has had the lead in four seasons. With 67 tackles, Lewis is the 2011 team leader by two.
As a freshman in 2007, Lewis had 144 tackles to break Brian Bosworth's OU freshman record of 133.
FRANK TALK
DE Frank Alexander is having an All-American type season. Alexander has 17 tackles for loss including 8.5 sacks thus far.
Alexander has been credited with at least half a sack in seven of the 10 games in addition to six pass break-ups, an interception, two forced fumbles, a recovered fumble and six hurries.
In the opener against Tulsa, Alexander had two passes broken up and an interception, which he returned 27 yards.
Against Texas, Alexander had six tackles, three sacks for -26 yards, four tackles for 30 yards in losses, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a break-up. He was named the Walter Camp Foundation's Defensive Player of the Week.
Alexander has 13.5 tackles for loss in his last six games.
Alexander will be counted on even more in the season's final two regular-season games with the loss of fellow DE Ronnell Lewis. Lewis, who has 13 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, was injured vs. Baylor.
Lewis has at least five tackles in nine of 10 games this season and picked off his second career pass vs. Texas A&M.
With Alexander and Lewis' interceptions, it marks the first year in OU history for two DEs to have INTs.
The two have a combined 11 PBUs, the most ever by a DE duo at OU.
During portions of this season, Oklahoma played a front four comprised entirely of defensive ends. Alexander lined up at a tackle, David King at noseguard and Lewis and R.J. Washington at the end spots.
DEFENSIVE TDS IN STOOPS ERA
With a school-record three defensive touchdowns against Texas, Oklahoma now has 42 in Bob Stoops 12+ seasons.Thirteen of those touchdowns came via a fumble return.
The defense has scored a touchdown in each of Stoops' 13 seasons, and in nearly one-fourth of the games he has coached at OU (39 of 170 games for 23%). That's an average of one every 4.0 games.
RIP AND RUN
OU has 314 return yards on 12 interceptions (217) and eight fumbles (97), an average of 15.7 yards per return.
Oklahoma has 12 interceptions this season for a whopping 217 yards in returns. That's an average of 18.1 yards per return. The top interception return average of the Bob Stoops era was 21.1 in 2002 when the Sooners logged 516 yards on 24 picks.
PAPER OR PLASTIC?
Oklahoma has 36 sacks, including eight against Texas, through nine games ...
OU started logging sacks in 1982. This team is trying to become the ninth to get at least 40. The school record of 48 was set in 1991.
These Sooners have 84 tackles for loss and are trying to become the 12th OU team to reach 100 in a season since the stat began at the school in 1970. The Oklahoma record is 126 in 2002.
Twelve players have at least half a sack this season.
LB Corey Nelson has 5.5 sacks, which is three off the OU record for season sacks by a linebacker. Torrance Marshall set that mark with 8.5 in 1999.
The 36 sacks have gone for 264 yards in losses , or an average of 7.3 per sack. The Sooners were held without a sack vs. Texas A&M. Prior to that, the lowest sack total in a game so far this season was two against Missouri.
OU has 38 over their last six games away from Norman (seven vs. Nebraska in 2010 Big 12 Championship game, three vs. UConn in Fiesta Bowl, six at Florida State, eight vs. Texas, five at Kansas, seven at Kansas State and two at Baylor).
The Sooners are averaging 8.4 tackles for loss per game.
The Sooner defense ranks No. 3 nationally in both sacks and tackle for loss per game.
OU IMPROVES IN PASS-HAPPY ERA
Despite this pass-happy era, only once under Bob Stoops has OU allowed a season completion rate of 60% or higher. The 2010 defense finished at just 54.6%.
This season, Sooner opponents are completing just 54.1% of their passes (197-of-364).
Only three opponents have thrown for 300 yards this year.
OU has held eight of its opponents to either their worst completion percentage of the season or their next-to-worst completion percentage of the season.
Oklahoma's special teams under Bob Stoops ...
There have been 27 special teams touchdowns, including 21 in the last 83 regular season games. Those 21 came via five different kinds of plays -- 12 punt returns, two faked field goals, two blocked punts, four kickoff returns and a faked punt. Special teams also own one safety in that span.
Oklahoma has returned eight kickoffs and 16 punts for touchdowns.
The Sooners have blocked 24 kicks.

FOOT FACTS
Oklahoma has used two kickers this season for placements with both Jimmy Stevens and Michael Hunnicutt handling the role. Hunnicutt has settled into the duty for now. Combined, the two are 19-of-22 on field goal attempts...
Over the last two seasons, Oklahoma has made 42-of-51 field goals (82%).
Hunnicutt took over in the Missouri game and has remained in the position as Stevens was forced out with a muscle pull. Hunnicutt is 15-of-18, including a 3-of-3 mark beyond 40. His 53-yarder at Kansas State was a career high and the longest by a Sooner since Garrett Hartley's 53-yarder in 2007 against Utah State. It marked the longest under Bob Stoops and the seventh longest in school history. Hunnicutt's kick was also the 22nd field goal in OU history of 50 or more yards. His previous best was a 44-yard field goal against Ball State.
Stevens has made 16 of his last 17 field goals, all over his last five games played.
At Oklahoma, Stevens ranks No. 6 all-time with 42 field goals made and No. 2 with 180 points after touchdown. He's No. 6 in kick scoring at 306.
Patrick O'Hara has settled into the kickoff role for the Sooners. He has 69 thus far with 14 touchbacks. He averages 65.2 yards per kickoff and opponents are averaging 19.4 yards per return.
STOPS THE ROCK TOO
Trey Millard does more than just offense, the fullback leads Oklahoma with 14 special teams tackles. Ronnell Lewis is second on the squad with 12 special teams stops, all on kickoffs.
WAY GOOD AT PUNTER
Way has 54 punts of 50+ yards in his career to set the OU program record. Jeff Ferguson (1998-01), previously held the OU record with 52.
Way is No. 10 among active NCAA punters with a career average of 43.8. He maintains that average with 180 kicks.
This season, Way has played a central role in field position with 29 of 46 punts downed inside the 20. Of those 29, Way has placed seven inside his opponents 10-yard line. Only four of Way's punts have resulted in a touchback.
In 2010, P Tress Way had 19 boots of 50+ yards with 18 inside the 20 and an average of 44.0 yards on 73 kicks. His average ranked No. 20 nationally, but he had more attempts than anyone ahead of him on that list.
REPLACING BROYLES
PR Ryan Broyles has more punt returns (108) and more total punt return yards (1,194) than any other active players in NCAA FBS play but will now be replaced at the position after going down with a torn ACL in the Texas A&M game.
He ranks No. 8 among active NCAA punt returners with an average of 11.1 yards per return.
He had four punt returns this season that exceeded 20 yards, including a season-long 36 at Kansas.
The only other player on the Oklahoma roster with a punt return this season is Kenny Stills who had one return for 13 yards vs. Ball State. Stills also had one punt return in 2010, a 16-yarder vs. Iowa State.
Stills returned four punts for 17 yards with a long of nine yards against Baylor.
Roy Finch will step in as the backup behind Stills.

LB Austin Box passed away in May. The Enid native would have been a senior on this team. To honor his memory, the Sooners keep his locker intact, leave a space for him during stretching drills and wear a helmet decal. In addition, a designated defensive player wears Box's No. 12 in each game. That assignment is made each Friday. Landry Jones wears No. 12 on offense.

The record is held by the late Daryl Hunt at 530. Lewis, now at No. 5, trails No. 4 Rocky Calmus, who holds the Stoops' era record by two tackles.His 429 career stops ranks fourth among active players nationally. Lewis, who suffered a broken bone in the big toe of his left foot in preseason drills, missed the opener vs. Tulsa.Lewis has led Oklahoma in tackles in each of his first three seasons and has become only the sixth player in school history to lead the team in three consecutive years. The last to do it was Rocky Calmus, the Butkus Award winner in his senior campaign, from 1999-01. No player has had the lead in four seasons. DE Frank Alexander is having an All-American type season. Alexander has 17 tackles for loss including 8.5 sacks thus far.
Alexander has been credited with at least half a sack in seven of the 10 games in addition to six pass break-ups, an interception, two forced fumbles, a recovered fumble and six hurries.In the opener against Tulsa, Alexander had two passes broken up and an interception, which he returned 27 yards. Against Texas, Alexander had six tackles, three sacks for -26 yards, four tackles for 30 yards in losses, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a break-up. He was named the Walter Camp Foundation's Defensive Player of the Week.Alexander has 13.5 tackles for loss in his last six games.Alexander will be counted on even more in the season's final two regular-season games with the loss of fellow DE Ronnell Lewis. Lewis, who has 13 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, was injured vs. Baylor. Lewis has at least five tackles in nine of 10 games this season and picked off his second career pass vs. Texas A&M.With Alexander and Lewis' interceptions, it marks the first year in OU history for two DEs to have INTs. WAY GOOD AT PUNTER
Way has 54 punts of 50+ yards in his career to set the OU program record. Jeff Ferguson (1998-01), previously held the OU record with 52.Way is No. 10 among active NCAA punters with a career average of 43.8. He maintains that average with 180 kicks. This season, Way has played a central role in field position with 29 of 46 punts downed inside the 20. Of those 29, Way has placed seven inside his opponents 10-yard line. Only four of Way's punts have resulted in a touchback.In 2010, P Tress Way had 19 boots of 50+ yards with 18 inside the 20 and an average of 44.0 yards on 73 kicks.
