NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles has been named one of three finalists for the 2011 Biletnikoff Award, which is presented annually to the top receiver in college football.
Monday's announcement from the The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., marks the second straight year for Broyles to be named a finalist as he joins Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon and USC's Robert Woods in earning the honor.
Broyles, whose season ended with a knee injury against Texas A&M on Nov. 5, finished his collegiate career as the NCAA career receptions leader with 349 catches and No. 2 on the NCAA career receiving yards chart with 4,586 yards. His 45 career receiving touchdowns rank No. 4 in NCAA history.
This season the senior from Norman, Okla., ranks No. 2 nationally with 128.6 receiving yards per game, best among all BCS players, and No. 3 nationally with 9.2 receptions per game. For the season, Broyles has 83 receptions for 1,157 yards and 10 touchdowns along with 18 punt returns for 188 yards. The 2011 season marked the third consecutive season with at least 83 catches for Broyles after hauling in 131 in 2010 and 89 in 2009.
By virtue of reaching the finals, Broyles will be invited to the Home Depot College Football Awards show on Dec. 8. The show airs at 8 p.m. (CT) on ESPN. The Biletnikoff winner will be announced during that telecast.
