AMES, Iowa - The 22nd-ranked University of Oklahoma volleyball team dropped its first conference match of the year with a four set loss at No. 16 Iowa State (23-25, 17-25, 25-22, 19-25). The Sooners (17-4, 4-1 Big 12) committed 28 attack errors and were out-blocked 10.5-4.0 by the Cyclones (14-3, 5-1).
Freshman Tara Dunn led the Sooners with 15 kills, while Suzy Boulavsky added 14. Dunn added 15 digs to her total for another double-double. Dunn also had half of OU's four service aces.
Brianne Barker also had 43 assists and 15 digs for a double-double. Carlee Roethlisberger added a season-high nine kills and hit .471. She also added two block assists along with Sallie McLaurin. McLaurin added 10 kills. Maria Fernanda had a team-high 18 digs.
Carly Jenson and Jamie Straube had 14 kills each to lead an Iowa State quartet of players with double-digit kills. Tenisha Matlock and Hannah Willms had 13 kills each. Alison Landwehr had a double-double with 54 assists and 14 digs. Kristen Hahn had a match-high 25 digs, while three others also posted a double-digit performance on defense.
Matlock led the Cyclones blocking with six total blocks, including two block solos. ISU hit .280 as a team, committing just 15 errors.
