TULSA, Okla. – Junior Costin Paval went 1-1, Saturday, claiming a win in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals at the ITA All-American Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa.
Paval, ranked No. 17 nationally, defeated Illinois Roy Kalmanovich in the quarterfinals. Despite dropping the first set, 2-6, the Romanian native rallied to win the following two sets, 7-6(9), 7-5.
In the semifinals, Paval faced Georgia's Wil Spencer. Paval took the first set, 6-3, but fell to the No. 5 seed after dropping the final two sets in identical fashion, 6-1.
With the All-American Championships behind them, the Sooners now set their sights on the OU Invitational, Oct. 14-16, in Norman, Okla.
