Mihov Moves on at Central Regiona Championships

TULSA, Okla. - The Sooners opened the main draw of the USTA/ITA Central Region Championships Saturday, Oct. 22, inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, hosted by the University of Tulsa.

Sophomore Tsvetan Mihov defeated his first two opponents on the day to advance to the third round where he will face Leandro Toledo of Minnesota. Mihov began the day defeating Creighton's Billy Pajuch, 6-1, 6-3, and followed that performance with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over OSU's Eric West.

OU's two other seeded players, Dane Webb and Peerakit Siributwong, did not fare as well as they both dropped first round matches to OSU's Vlad Bondarenko and Arkansas' Mike Nott, respectively.

Ryan Proctor fell to the No. 5 seed in Tulsa's Clifford Marsland in identical sets, 6-1.

In doubles, OU's fourth-overall seed comprised of Webb and Costin Paval routed Iowa's Dierckx and Tomlins, 8-1.

Mihov and Siributwong dropped an 8-4 contest to Nebraska's Stenger and Schulze, while Guillermo Alcorta and Lawrence Formentera fell to Minnesota's Dehn and Bonin.

Action begins at 9 a.m. Sunday.
