Sooners Land at No. 9 in BCS

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma landed at No. 9 in the second week of the BCS standings released Sunday night. The Sooners suffered their first loss of the season against Texas Tech, 41-38, Saturday night.

Oklahoma dropped to No. 8 in the Harris Poll, No. 9 the Coaches' Poll and No. 11 in the AP Poll. The Sooners (6-1) travel to Manhattan to face undefeated Kansas State Saturday (2:30 p.m., ESPN). K-State was No. 10 in the Harris Poll, No. 12 in the Coaches and No. 10 in the AP Poll.

The BCS rankings are determined by three components: the Harris Interactive poll, the USA Today coaches poll and the average of six computer rankings. Each component counts one-third toward a team's BCS score.

The six computer rankings are Anderson & Hester, Richard Billingsley, Colley Matrix, Kenneth Massey, Jeff Sagarin and Peter Wolfe. Each accounts for schedule strength in its formula. The highest and lowest ranking for each team is dropped, and the remaining four are added and divided by 100 (the maximum possible points) to produce a computer rankings percentage.
