NORMAN, Okla. - The 22nd-ranked University of Oklahoma volleyball team rallied on several occasions Saturday afternoon to down Kansas State in four sets (25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21).
The two teams split each of the first two sets and OU trailed 22-17 in the third before scoring eight straight points to re-gain the momentum to take the set 25-22. OU won the fourth set 25-21 to move to 19-5 on the year and 6-2 in Big 12 Conference play.
Senior Brianne Barker and freshman Tara Dunn paved the way for the Sooners, each with a double-double. Barker had 40 assists and 13 digs. Dunn had 13 kills and 12 digs.
Junior Maria Fernanda also contributed to the win, leading the team with a match-high 22 digs. Sophomore Sallie McLaurin led in blocks, with two block solos and five block assists. McLaurin also added 11 kills and a team-best .400 hitting percentage.
Barker had two of the team's four service aces. Dunn and McLaurin contributed one each. The Sooners hit .266 for the match, including a .417 clip in the first set.
Caitlyn Donahue and Kaitlynn Pelger each had double-doubles for Kansas State. Donahue had 53 assists and 14 digs, while Pelger had 26 kills and 14 digs. Kuulei Kabalis had a team-high 16 digs. The Wildcats hit a .211 clip, led by Alex Muff, who hit .444.
The one hour, 53 minute match featured 18 ties and 10 lead changes.
