LUBBOCK, Texas - The 25th-ranked University of Oklahoma volleyball team rallied from a Texas Tech match point to down the Red Raiders in five sets Saturday evening (22-25, 25-16, 18-25, 25-19, 17-15). OU moved to 16-3 on the year and 3-0 in Big 12 play. Texas Tech fell to 14-3 overall and 0-2 in league matches.
Freshman Tara Dunn led the Sooners with a match-high 21 kills. Dunn recorded her second straight double-double, fourth this season, by adding a season-high 15 digs. Brianne Barker dished out a career-high 59 assists and had 19 digs for her 12th double-double this year. Barker also had a season-high four block assists.
Suzy Boulavsky added 17 kills. Sallie McLaurin (12) and Morgan Reynolds (10) each also had double-digit kills. McLaurin dropped eight blocks, including two block solos, to lead the Sooners front-line defense. OU narrowly edged the Red Raiders in blocks 10.0-9.0.
Maria Fernanda continued her stellar defensive player as she had 28 digs as one of five Sooners with double-digit digs. In addition to Fernanda's 28, Barker's 19 and Dunn's 15, Mindy Gowen added 15 and Eden Williams had 12.
OU out-hit the Red Raiders with a .218 hitting percentage and 68 kills. Texas Tech hit .177 and had 63 kills. Each team had five service aces and OU managed to out-dig TTU by one 99-98.
Oklahoma returns home Wednesday for a pivotal conference matchup with Missouri. First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT at McCasland Field House.
