The Other Side of Quinton Carter

NORMAN, Okla. -- Quinton Carter shows no mercy on the football field. But there's another side to one of the Big 12's hardest hitters.

Every week before he goes to class, Carter visits KinderCare of Norman to spend time with a four-year old class he's adopted.

It's not every day you come across a college athlete like Carter, who spends his spare time volunteering and making a difference in the community.

"I come here just to kind of escape, as well as put a smile on their face at the same time," Carter said.

Carter's volunteer efforts don't stop at KinderCare. He also his own non-profit foundation, SOUL, which stands for Serving Others through Unity and Leadership.

He has accomplished more than some NFL players ever will while still only in college.

"My parents raised me around the philosophy that when you get in a position to give back, make sure you do so," he said. "I'm in that position now."
